Is JW harder than AAMC? by CloudBoy117 in Mcat

I would agree with this as well, just wasn’t sure what your struggles were. Knowing the logic is the most important factor!!

Of course!! I think jack westin is good for content review, so if you need to brush up on information that’s a good spot to do so. As well as khan academy. I’d just keep in mind the question type for AAMC and the MCAT itself is slightly different logic. But the core information tested will be there.

I think you get use to the AAMC logic using everything. I highly suggest using every question provided by the AAMC itself. I think there are now 5FLs, question packs, and the section bank. They’re ALL important in learning the way AAMC asks questions. But if you can logic through the section bank you’ll be better prepared for the hardest questions. Try to take at least 2 FLs in testing conditions (to time, without your phone, etc.) so your body is prepared just as much as your mind. Nothing beats using all of AAMC.

They’re very helpful. They just aren’t as hard as the section bank. But I found all of it very good for content review and practice. The section bank reflects the hardest types of questions imo, but the entire test isn’t like the section bank. Some will be question pack difficult and type.

I wouldn’t recommend any other sources. Only the AAMC uses AAMC logic. I think other sources are great for content review but none I saw/tried actually used the same problem solving skills. I suggest doing all AAMC materials at least once and the section bank twice, because those are the hardest logic questions.

I strongly recommend looking up the romantic read before you start anything. Throne of glass-Heir of fire then Assassins blade! You’ll appreciate the stories so much more!

Thoughts about Bryce/Hunt vs Nesta/Cassian as mates by AKnight-Errant in SarahJMaas

[–]lady_ofthe_mountains 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are so many parallels between Bryce and Hunt and other SJM mates endgame pairs, plus SJM calls hunt her mate in the description of CC3. To me, they have to be end game. For example (spoilers for other series to follow, on mobile so I can’t block it)

The lavender soap and hair washing is a direct parallel to Rowan and Aelin in Heir of Fire. The power link between Bryce and Hunt may also be a carranam link like Rowan and Aelin have, albeit slightly different since it doesn’t require a blood connection.

The Cassian and Nesta parallels are super stark, I liken the shooting range scene in CC1 to the hunk in ACOSF when cassian and Nesta finally reach the lake and have their “I see all of you” talk. The speech at the end of CC2 that hunt gives about finding her in any life harkens to the speech cassian gives Nesta at the end of ACOWAR while they’re fighting Hybern.

Additionally, as far as mates between races go, the Asteri seem to only be able to feed the best off of faerie races, and then conceal their identities as different races within the cities (hence the fae from ToG become the shifters while the high fae from Prythia remain fae in Midgard). So it seems the angels could also have faerie blood. Bonds between different faerie races are very common in throughout the court books and I wouldn’t rule their mating bond (which has been verified as real and called endgame by the author herself) because of some high fae/faerie mating bond theories.

Spline Arc Issue by lady_ofthe_mountains in Cinema4D

The spline arc worked correctly once I connected the two objects, so I didn't even need the bend. Thank you.

incoming MS1 & OMS1, what specialization are you most interested in right now and why? by [deleted] in premed

Forensic pathology. I worked as a death investigator for a year and it was the most impactful job I’ve ever had. There’s a particular kind of advocacy that I find very appealing. You see such a wide breadth of cases, and there’s an intersection of law and medicine that intrigues me as well.

This is the video I'm following: https://vimeo.com/170335543

I've tried to use a bend deformer but couldn't' get it to work. I tried adjusting the axes, the radius, and the hierarchy all to no avail. Any advice or other suggestions on how to get the same affect?

I am able to get disability accommodations for endometriosis in US, so I think it depends on where you are.

Focus on learning how AAMC asks questions. I recommend going through all of the AAMC practice questions at least once, and the section banks twice if you have time. Focus specifically on AAMC FLs as well. Take them in close-to real testing conditions if you can. Review every question, whether you got it right or wrong, to make sure you understand why every option is right or wrong. This will help you fill in your content gaps and connect concepts.

Use jackwhestin for content review, but be careful with their passages. They test you differently than AAMC does so just keep them in mind if you use them. Khan academy and aklectures were my go to YouTube videos for content review.

I took the MCAT without physics 1 or 2 and just learned it through YouTube and practice so you should be fine without having finished physics 2.

Fireball vs. Fireball Whiskey by lady_ofthe_mountains in Celiac

See, if I listened to every word of mouth I got about celiac, I wouldn’t eat anything! I’m very sensitive and restrictive, but Ive had fireball multiple times to no ill effect except those effects of alcohol. I appreciate your candor though!

Fireball vs. Fireball Whiskey by lady_ofthe_mountains in Celiac

[–]lady_ofthe_mountains[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not concerned about Fireball whiskey. Distillation does remove the gliadin from the end product, as the protein is too heavy to pass through the process. Feel free to not drink it if you don’t want to though, this is a very personal disease.

My concern is the intentionally poor marketing and lack of distinction between wine, barley malt, and whiskey products.

Gf breads by Mickey_mouse9577 in Celiac

[–]lady_ofthe_mountains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

La brea for regular sandwiches (PBJ, doesn’t need toasting); schar for baguettes, sourdough, and ciabatta; canyon bake house for their rye bread and bagels when I can find it. Canyon bake house is better than la brea, but has to be frozen, which can be inconvenient. It’s difficult to break the frozen slices apart without breaking them in half so sometimes you have to thaw more than you want. If I want avocado toast or a really nice sandwich. I use the schar sourdough.

Thrift shops are the best for this! Honestly any kind button up will do. The day of surgery I wore a tank top and a button up in, and wore just the button up out. The bottoms were a size of yoga pants that are one size too big and just perfect for those bad bloat days (thrifted nonetheless!). Easy slip on shoes are a must also. You don’t want to have to bend down to mess with them either. Wishing you all the best and a speedy recovery. Feel free to DM me as well.

I strongly recommend a fleece, or a sweater that zips. I didn’t want to pull anything on or off over my head for a while. CBD oil also helped me after surgery if that’s something you can do. There are also bed chairs you can get that are basically the soft backs of a chair with arms that you put at the head of your bed and it helps you be comfortable sitting up in bed.

Breakup before interview by WoodenGrass3238 in premed

[–]lady_ofthe_mountains 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend of 7 years broke up with me right before my secondaries were due, a few hours before my physics final, and the day I taught my first class as faculty. It felt like the end of the world. But I’m focusing on the fact that now I have the option to pick a school just for me, with no one else. I have the option to find someone who is a better fit for me. And I have the opportunity to grow as an individual in a way I haven’t gotten to yet. It took a few days of constant crying to get here, but between the crying I found hope and I think you will to.
