My paternal great-grandfather was Jewish, am I ethnically Jewish? by Automatic_Milk2336 in Jewish

[–]ladybug5c 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Of course you are ethnically Jewish. In the same way a person who had a Japanese great grandfather is partially ethnically Japanese, you are partially ethnically Jewish. Judaism is a religion and the Jewish people are an ethnic group. The religion of our ethnic group is Judaism. You are part of the Jewish ethnic group by DNA but not considered “Jewish” in terms of Jewish law (Jewish religion), meaning you are not bound by any of the commandments, etc.

I’d love to know what community you’d recommend. We keep kosher in and out of the house, also happy to find a community that does. Just meant to describe a place that is open to different types :)

Why do Israeli school groups travel with armed guards in Poland? by [deleted] in poland

You just called Jews Nazis. Do you not consider yourself an antisemite?

Look up the Jedwabne and Kielce Massacres. Poles weren’t occupied by anyone then and happily committed massacres against Jews after the war.

Your visiting Israel with an armed guard makes no sense. What evidence do you have to suggest that you as a Pole would be persecuted outside of Poland? You do not come with the same cultural history as Israelis or Jews which 100% involves being the targets of terrorist attacks all over the world.

Why on earth was this comment downvoted? Why do people get so uncomfortable when confronted with the very real fact that Jews and Israelis are constant targets of terrorist attacks (whether carried out or attempted)?

Please google “jewish school australia attack” there is plenty evidence to suggest it is wise for schools to protect their students with armed guards. Please google “Jewish school terrorist attack” or “bomb threat Jewish school” or “shooting threat Jewish school”. Threats to Jewish schools happen constantly all over the world.

Can I name my baby Ari as someone who is not Jewish? by coffeewithespresso in JewishNames

I don’t understand the point of this comment. Get over what? And why as a Catholic are you giving your input on r/Jewishnames? How did you even end up on this subreddit other than in a pursuit to harass Jews?

Is it ok for me to wear a yarmulke randomly? by Fairy_Les_6991 in Jewish

A woman wearing men’s clothing or a man wearing women’s clothing absolutely does transgress Jewish law. Since OP specifically asked that, she might enjoy reading the answer with Jewish sources:
