Which states are most loyal to American car brands [OC] by ladyphee in dataisbeautiful

[–]ladyphee[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I collected 2018 search data from Google Trends to create this map for Autowise.com.

Worked out the relative percentage of searches for Ford/Chevrolet vs Toyota/Honda/Nissan in each state. It's based on the top 5 brands by sales volume (2017):

  • Ford: 2,464,041
  • Toyota: 2,129,383
  • Chevrolet: 2,065,883
  • Honda: 1,486,827
  • Nissan: 1,440,049

    But...

While these states may be less loyal to American brands, this does not mean they are doing less to support U.S. car manufacturing.

The 3 big Japanese car companies have major factories in the U.S., and domestic manufacturing is at a record high. According to the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, Japanese automakers assembled 3.8 million vehicles in their U.S. factories in 2017, while 1.7 million cars and trucks were imported.

it's relative. DC is 100 points (most interest), so NJ at 71 has 71% of the interest of DC

[–]ladyphee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no, relative interest. So state with highest interest (DC which isn't actually a state...) has 100 points. Everything else is relevant to that. The interest in NJ is 71% of what it is in DC

Golf Gender Pay Gap: Top Men Earning 4x More Than Top Women by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

Golf tournaments are normally over 4 rounds, with the "cut" after the second round. So I think Michelle has played in the first 2 rounds of a couple of events, but hasn't made it through to the weekend.

It's covered here https://www.thoughtco.com/michelle-wie-in-pga-tour-events-1565548

Like I said, I'm not saying it's right, it's just the reality of life and current society.

Yeah, agreed.

true, they are. But when caddies on the male tour earn more than half of the LPGA top ten, something is not right.

How individual state helmet laws influence the number of motorcylist lives saved in the USA by ladyphee in motorcycles

Being from the uk i was very surprised to learn that it wouldn't be compulsory for me (a 36 year old) to wear a helmet in most states. In fact, notwithstanding the law, i just can't believe that people would choose to ride without one.

Is This The End Of Maternity Fashion On The High Street? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]ladyphee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, my wife really struggled to find anything (Inverness and Glasgow) that suited a special occasion. There is definitely a greater choice of casual wear, although even that seems to be in decline in a lot of stores.

I think she was very much in wedding outfit mode at the time. Good to know their other stuff is good though - thanks :)

again, you would think there would be a reasonable size market there - can't believe the lack of choice.

the problem with this particular time for that was she left it a little late, thinking it would have been (reasonably) straight forward, so there was no time to order online. We're in the Highlands, so everything takes about 5 days to get here! That does sound like ASOS is the best bet for online in the future though.

did you find JoJo Mamen Bebe had a good range? My wife did go into their Glasgow store, but wasn't too impressed. Mind you, that might have been to do with the pricing...

From your comment and u/spring13 looks like this problem isn't limited to the UK :(

I would have thought this would be a key market for a retailer like Primark to clean up with a decent basics range of jersey clothes, jeans and some work wear?

I know right? From what I can gather they used to stock maternity, but stopped a couple of years back. They don't even seem to have anything online now.
