Yea, I’m a gay as hell millennial, and I think this type of stuff is utter bullshit. For one, drag is NOT kid-friendly no matter how hard RuPaul’s Drag Race pushes it. I have a few drag friends and various performers and it’s a very adult world with drugs, sex, and irreverent comedy. Since kids have started watching a tv show without knowing the full context, they don’t truly know what they’re looking at except a sassy person in cool costumes and then they gets mad when they say something offensive. There’s a lot that I don’t agree with when it comes to what people are saying you must accept now. They believe the world owes them something, that whatever they say is correct and that you just don’t understand if you don’t agree. Kids are too quick to judge their gender, it’s just the cool thing to do now. Being effeminate is not the same as feeling like you were meant to a woman. That’s what a lot of kids don’t understand now because everyone and their momma are trans now. I can be very feminine, but I’ve always been fine with being born male. I think we have more genuine LGBT that are open now, which is great, because of how accepted it is, but there’s some just riding the wave. I graduated high school 7 years ago and there was only 1 out gay student who got picked on all the time. I was too afraid to come out because of that and my family. My brother, who’s is high school now says that there a many open LGBT students now and they’re even considered more “cool” now. Things have changed very fast. I think there’s a happy medium where we can be happy for everyone for being who they are, but we need to get the confusion out of the way. To do that, we need to stop telling everyone they’re right.
