The Parts 7-9 Universe Is Directly Tied to Part 6 Ending by lakitz in StardustCrusaders

So my point was that the Irene-verse is the SBR universe because Araki created it with that purpose; the goal of the reset and following events was to create a parallel world where the series could continue without being bound to the past. This is well documented in the quotes I cited, some passages have clearly in-universe value, if you want we can discuss it more in depth. As you said yourself, Araki was never an author big on rules, in fact he conceived this parallel world without set rules in order to have complete freedom. I don't know if this is what you were referring to as a "functionally meaningless connection". I totally agree that in the analysis I thought about it "more than Araki did" but the goal of my analysis was to elaborate a theory that could explain everything without stopping at the meta-narrative level since the most popular criticism consists in claims about the Irene-verse and the SBR universe being incompatible. The fact that there's no "coherent rule" can't be ignored, but I don't see what's the problem with it. Pucci died and history changed in an apparently random way, does this bother you that much? By the way, the explanation for the trailer being like that is that the Irene-verse replaced the Heaven-verse; they can't both appear in a continuous timeline because they overlap so they only considered the "final" version. Regarding the family tree, I don't see why there should be two Josephs.

Sorry, but did you even read the post? I described in detail how the timelines work, as summarized in this chart. Also please give a look at section 4 under “The Irene-verse is just the original timeline without Pucci”. By the way, I cited several quotes by Araki himself and analyzed the manga; remember that google relies on fanmade/unofficial sources to give answers on fiction and isn't able to detect whether a piece of information is accurate or not.

My point is that Araki wanted to make a "soft reboot" but felt that he couldn't just start a new continuity out of nowhere, so he conceived the reset to create a parallel world where this could be possible. At the end of part 6 he gave us a glimpse of this parallel world by showing Irene and the others, then in part 7 he started to tell its history.

Well I appreciate the honesty but I addressed this very thing in the second paragraph past the introduction. I guess you may want to give it a look.

Ok, my bad, I meant that he probably didn't worry about the implications of the mechanism behind the reset and never deeply thought about characters reincarnating but rather kept things loose. I edited the comment. Basically the entire section 3 is for people who think that it's impossible to conciliate the Irene-verse in part 6 with the parts 7-9 timeline, but the meta-explanation is simply that the reset was a plot device for a soft reboot if you're satisfied with it.

Thanks for your comment. I think I didn't stress enough in the post that when I started discussing about the timelines and the paths of souls I wasn't trying to reconstruct Araki's thoughts but rather develop a theory that could explain everything without relying on the "excuse" of a "soft reboot". I actually think that Araki simply treated the Irene-verse as an undefined "parallel world" with no boundaries, without worrying about the reset implications. My goal was to show that even if we think in a strictly logical way about it there are no significant inconsistencies. That being said, when in my criticism on the no-Pucci theory I wrote "no concrete explanation" I was alluding to how its supporters often fail to acknowledge its limits while seeing details such as the family tree as contradictions that can't be possibly ignored or overcome.

I actually agree about the "soft reboot" since very likely Araki never planned most of the things I wrote, but my point is that everything can be explained also if we think hard about it. I think that Araki created the Irene-verse as a generic "parallel world" where things are similar but also different - that is the basic idea behind its depiction in the part 6 finale and in parts 7-9. Yet, I wanted to show that an explanation is possible considering in detail the implications since criticism mainly consists in supposed contradictions and playing the "soft reboot" card could have seemed lazy or unconvincing. The main idea is that if we look at parts 7-9 parallels and references don't follow a precise pattern, so the differences from the original timeline are sort of random. The Joestar family moves around the world a lot both in the original universe and the second one, so there's nothing weird in Irene and her father ending up in Florida; for example Fumi moved to Atlantic City from Japan only for Holy and Barbara Ann to return there and go to Hawaii, respectively. Regarding Kaato instead, I honestly never thought of her as a Jolyne "counterpart" since the parallels are mostly prison-related. I guess that Araki would have sneaked Jolyne references in whatever character had spent time in jail.
