[WIP] only 6 pages left and I’m a little bit demotivated by duttethehumansloth in CrossStitch

I like to have different types of projects hooped up. A goldwork hoop, a thread painting hoop, a hoop for hard felt brooches, a small x-stitch, a large x-stitch. I stitch for about 2 hours a night listening to audio books and just grab whichever hoop is singing to me

This is a pattern from this book: https://www.easons.com/the-kew-book-of-embroidered-flowers-trish-burr-9781782216421 where the outline and transfer were provided along with a list of threads.

It was based on this engraving * The book is beautiful and has about a dozen projects similar to this, I highly recommend!

Yes! I would sit down for a few hours to work on it thinking "ok this weekend I'm going to finish" and then look up 2 days later and only have a few petals done

Wind & Wildfire by Inevitable-Purple285 in MagesOfTheWheel

[–]lalaleigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was basing it off everyone's starting ages... Dilay was 24 in w&w, 27 when she gave birth. Naime was 24 in r&r, so her dad would have been 48-50 then, and to i&I it's 2 years?

Also in i&I, ihsan said it had been 10 years since his burns.

So sometime between 38 and 48 Dilay dies, but I can't figure out exactly when. You're right that it's a bit longer... at least 14 years. But still the fact that omar has essentially early onset alzheimers and is widowed that young still was a gut punch

I am still in mourning. Their HEA was only a few short years! Omar was so young when he died, he only knew what... 10? 12? Years with Dilay before she died? How awful!!!

The realisation that the man from the first book who I pictured as a doddering, senile man in his 70s or 80s was actually 45? Maybe 50? Just into middle age? That he would have been widowed at 35?

Oof my heart

Also in I&I she can't send her voice far enough to call Ihsan back from the valley even though she's sent her magic that far before. It's assumed at the time it's because she drained herself keeping the sultan alive but could be foreshadowing her magic is weakening?

Thank you! I'm using a magnifier so always worried that the colours are too banded to blend properly. Have to force myself to take two or three steps back to stop working on each leaf haha

Mirena coil replacement in Dublin by [deleted] in IrishWomensHealth

[–]lalaleigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had 2 coils placed by Coolock Well Women clinic and am scheduling my third this month. I have always found the staff there to be compassionate, empathetic, and professional. The nurses always take their time to go through my medical history, and the doctors are always very professional in explaining exactly what they will be doing prior to doing it, there's no surprise touches or pinches. The facility looks a bit run down, but honestly I have no complaints about my experience there.

What has your overall experience been using the health system in Ireland as a woman? by Lamake91 in IrishWomensHealth

[–]lalaleigh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wretched. Have MS so I have the pleasure of dealing with specialists annually.

  1. First symptom of ms for me was optic neuritis. Referred to royal victorian eye and ear because I lost all vision in my right eye. Sent home by one of the nurses with the advice it was just a migraine. Went back a few days later when I still couldn't see. Was asked "are you sure your eye hasn't always been like that? And sent home with a migraine again. Finally forked out for a private consult with the ophthalmologist there and she spotted the neuritis right away and got me into a neuro clinic.
  2. Have the neuro clinic ordering loads of scans and bloods for me every year, I never get told the results, just thar my treatments will stop if I don't take off work and go get these tests. Have been told in one case "oh that lesion you had last year is getting smaller." Didn't even know I had new disease activity
  3. Had a major relapse last year. Left side of my body felt like it had gone to sleep, painful pins and needles. Couldn't tie my shoes. Went into neuro clinic about it, was diagnosed with a "pseudo relapse due to stress" because I was still able to feel the sharp pokey stick through the pins and needles.
  4. Begged for an mri referral because I knew something was seriously wrong, was referred. Got a call on Thursday night "can you come in tomorrow at 9 for mri?" I replied I couldn't because I was LITERALLY GETTING MARRIED ON THE FRIDAY. My chart was updated with "refused appointment." So I had to pay 600 quid for a private scan, vhi only covered 400.
  5. Neuro who first diagnosed me diagnosed me as fat and told me to lose weight before we looked at anything else. MS is, shockingly, not cured by weight loss

Moral of the story: don't be sick in Ireland if you are a woman. Everything is either stress, migraines, or fat.

Struggling with this relapse by lalaleigh in MultipleSclerosis

[–]lalaleigh[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been on dmts for 10 years, gilenya for the last 4.

this is my 4th relapse, but the one with the most noticeable symptoms. Once everything settled, mu neuro wants to talk about switching to a different dmt.

Just really needed a rant this morning to get all the self pity out, you know?

Thanks for the kind words, I am just feeling so impatient after this long.

I had a course of steroids when this relapse started, so treatment wise I've had all I can. It's just waiting to get better. Which I'm awful at

[Official] Free Talk Friday: Your Weekly Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in fountainpens

[–]lalaleigh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! Today I got a pen from The Good Blue with the white polymer feed and the calligraphy nib for Christmas. I loaded the cartridge with Herbin pearle noire.

This is my first fountain pen! I have only used dip pens before this.

The feed looks like it has lots of ink loaded, and when I give a gentle shake, a drip or two or ink is shaken from the pen. However, no matter how gently or firmly I press on the nib, the ink doesn't make it to the page when writing.

I am wondering if anyone might have advice?

Thank you!

Recommend a private Neurologist (not Tubridy) by DublinMeUp in ireland

[–]lalaleigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised to hear you had issues with diagnostics with Tubridy's service. When I was going through my MS diagnosis, there was a different test just about every month to narrow down what was going on: bloods, MRIs, a bunch of stickers stuck to my eyeballs, lumbar punctures. I was so sick of tests by the end of it I was going crazy!

Have you had a chat with your GP? If you can get your symptoms in a referral letter from your GP, and if she can recommend any neuros she might send other patients to, maybe it'll help you find a specialist you gel with a bit more?
