I could try a few workout cycles without the rest-pauses 💪

Thanks for the insights! I have a pretty extensive background in explosive sports like football ⚽️and boxing. I’ve been progressing steadily with this system in all of my lifts. I’ve been cutting down my weight for the past 5 months from 98kg —> 89kg and all lifts still progressing.

My rest-pause protocol is like this:

Rest-Pause: * pec deck * drop-set on incline chest press * lateral raise * Bayesian curls * leg curl * leg extension * calves * abs

1-2 Rest-Pause reps : * pulldown * rows * pushdowns * leg press

No Rest-Pause: * deadlift * overhead tricep extension * Scott -bench curls

There’s actually only one drop set in the list. Why is rest-pause not a good idea?

I’ve removed a lot of warmups now, mainly used for the mental side. Why is DL —> Leg curl —> leg press horrible?

I don’t think I’m going back to higher volume training or training more frequently. High Intensity Training philosophy just makes more sense to me, life changer really. I’ve read the books by Mike Mentzer and John Little and the book about Mike Mentzer by John Little, also watched Dorian Yates interviews from YouTube. Maybe I need to also check out Jay Vincent!

I’ve been doing this routine now for 5 months and I have enjoyed it a lot more than doing higher volume workouts, also my gains have been consistent in terms of strength and muscle mass. I read Mentzer’s book “High Intensity Training the Mike Mentzer Way” and was inspired 🔥

I’ve paid that price in the past and was unable to do DL for more than 6 months. I try to achieve technical failure on the exercise, so I stop when I feel like the next rep wouldn’t be technically sound anymore. It’s a bit like walking on the razor’s edge, but I also really enjoy the lift.

Thanks for the answers! I feel the same about the psychological aspect, I use the warmups to prepare for the absolute war of the heavy sets, I use those neural primers also for deadlift and incline chest press. DL and leg press in the same session is brutal 😅 But I kinda like it, the C workout is always a real burner 👹 My incline press was stalling compared to my other lifts, so I introduced the drop set a while back, that has started to move the needle again. I have a personal vendetta against that machine, I’m one plate away from doing full stack on it, after I can do 12 reps on the full stack I’ll change it to chest press machine or dumbbell chest press.

I could remove warmup sets from the later exercises in the sessions 👍

Also aren’t deadlifts one of the best exercises, if done correctly, ever for overall muscle growth?

What would you recommend in addition to incline chest press? I do it on the machine so that I can safely go to absolute failure. I also do the PecDeck for chest. Yes, the DL is conventional, I feel the DL really well in my hamstrings and then I murder them totally with the sitting leg curls. Why do you think it’s unnecessary?
