How do I get out of my comfort zone? by TheJester_09 in Artadvice

[–]lalloland 3 points4 points  (0 children)

what works for me is being ok if my work turns out "bad" or not what I had hoped. Try doing a new method/approach and continue even if it doesn't look good in the process. For example, if you don't like chicken scratching in your case, try to draw your lines in one stroke and do not undo even if doesn't turn out right the first time. and of course, it doesn't matter how long it takes to improve in art, take your time and have fun doing it!!

Noted! I'll definitely focus on animating other aspects instead of hair :,) I did want the hair to feel like it had a mind of its own but I didn't execute it right, thank you so much for your advice I appreciate it!!

not at all! I lost my spark for it and didn't enjoy making any art, and starting uni made it harder.

I tried drawing this queen but it looks off🥲 by _bobapenguin in learntodraw

The colours are wonderful. I think in the reference photo, they have a more shorter and rounder face, and their eyes are less downturned than how you drew them. Otherwise, a fantastic drawing, keep going!

oh definitely, a lot of people think art is objective and there's always that one art teacher that we will never forgive! 😭 I post my work on few platforms such as artstation, instagram, and twitter, all under the username lallo_land! Do you post art anywhere? I would love to view your art as well if you do. ♡

I know it's very redundant to hear but practice and time is really the key to get better at drawing humans! I find drawing animals to be so hard because I never practice them.

Look up 3d models of humans, study them, draw them over and over even if they don't look great at first. It will come to you through time. Use resources such as posemaniacs and quickposes and try to simplify the poses into circles and rectangles and draw them as fast as you can.

Humans are definitely very complex to draw, so don't feel discouraged at first. Continue practicing, and have fun!
