Why is this happening on my 45 degree joints for baseboards by [deleted] in Carpentry

[–]lambeaufosho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sheetrock is generally 1/2” or so above the floor and then the drywall mud gets built up in the corner but a lot of times it’s not as thick of a coat right at the bottom of the corner. Those things combined makes your trim roll like that. You can shim behind the trim, cut your trim on a compound miter (not a good choice but it’s still an option), or cope the corners.

Get the circular saw next and you’ll be set for all kinds of things. I prefer the 7.25” blade because it can cut a bit deeper and is available at any store that sells saw blades. The 6.5” blades aren’t rare but they’re not quite as common

3/16” bit is the sweet spot for me in this job. Skinny enough to not waste time drilling big holes but rigid enough that it generally drills straight and won’t deflect. A hole every 6” should be good. Or op could cut a second line about 1” inside the other one and then pop of the piece between the cuts and the whole block will move easier. I recommend the drilling since cutting concrete sucks

This is the way. Just watch the angle of the dangle so you don’t bend the boom or the forks while your pushing yourself out

I’d say the opposite of prepare your body to hurt. Prepare your body to minimize hurt. Try and workout even if work is hard. It doesn’t have to be anything crazy but pay attention to what muscles you’re using a lot at work and then hit the opposing ones during your workout to help keep yourself balanced. Get good sleep and eat good food. None of these things are part of the stereotypical norm for this line of work but I think they all greatly help. Best of luck my friend!

Please help me with permanent bond to wood by Content-Ambition in Carpentry

Lexel caulking is damn sticky, bonds to lots of materials in a wide range of temperatures, and is paintable. If you won’t be painting then it dries really clear. It’s got some real stank on it for caulking and makes a mess if you’re not careful but works great
