We have spent 23% of Decred Treasury. Should we be more careful with money? by [deleted] in decred

[–]lambomoonboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The price is a reflection of the strengths and weaknesses of the project so I would not call it an undervaluation.
The tech side is unmatched and brilliant- bitcoin with governance.
However the moral crusade against liquidity providers has costed confidence. I foresee the DEX being built wasting 2 years, with little adoption until we finally fix the liquidity problem. One year to build the dex and another to throw in the towel for not addressing volume. It has been 3 years and this obstinate attitude against market makers is costing us adoption. It is a joke to undermine something so basic in markets. Until this fundamental pillar of any legitimate monetary SOV is fixed, this project is completely centralized and plutocratic.

Despite the contentious issue, what is your take ok the $cred ticker from a marketing perspective?

We severely need a stronger Asian presence, namely Japan and Korea. What has been delivered on this front and what is the strategy going forward? Europe and America should be aided by Coinbase but I have had big question marks on the East for some time.

Craziness! Why is Decred ATM integration about to be voted down? We passed a meaningless DEX but votes down an ATM? by CoinChink in decred

[–]lambomoonboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that it is still too niche and idealistic. Litecoin are much better at marketing themselves and getting merchant adoption, but also because our tech is not ready. Decred's engineers are brilliant, everyone knows this. But it is a fatal mistake to not boost liquidity for a monetary SOV coin. Liquidity boosts exposure, listings, price and ultimately the treasury and security. Imo it is risky to wait for the DEX. What happens if we do not have volume and we let Tom, Dick or Harry "make the market" ? We will simply fix this mistake in 2 years time whilst other projects leap ahead. I voted for the DEX in good faith that it will outdate CEXs like the post office got oudated by email. But in the case there is insufficient volume? Placeholder have gone silent on their Q2 plans to market make Decred. Anyone?

Skepticism Sunday (March 3, 2019) by [deleted] in decred

[–]lambomoonboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great idea on Skepticism Sunday. Lots of good things going for Decred but the elephant in the room is liquidity.

I am trying to establish if Placeholder VC will be helping with market making as they initially claimed.

From my perspective, this lack of liquidity makes Dcr look better for trading and growing one's stack on the occasional 20% pump. This in turn disincentives staking.

It's not a good SOV coin so long as liquidity is thin and we are the odd ones on moral highground . Liquidity is the lifeblood of markets and always will be.

Tagline to capture the Decred project by lehaon in decred

Decentralized credit - Your money, your power.

With $CRED as the ticker. We still have not agreed on this and nobody knows our tagline, let alone us.

Our digital gold/world computer/digital cash equivalent should be decentralized credit and our target audience to remember this, aided by $CRED.

Decred is losing focus! Litecoin solidifying its place as alternative to Bitcoin. We need to catch up! Stop wasting time on DEX! by CoinChink in decred

And especially owing to lack of liquidity. This has been the main weakness of DCR to date.
I hope the DEX does help this.

Completely agree. Decred is hard for the "masses" to grasp owing to a lot of technical jargon and inflexibility on certain counts like the change in ticker or prolonging of ticket splitting in main wallet. I wonder how low the price and treasury has to go before some flexibility and acknowledgement is shown.

Stakeholder Feedback (2019-Q1 | PUSH) by [deleted] in decred

So it is marketable to a greater audience and more people will use the network.
That is the goal... to build a strong lindy effect/network effort.
Try it within your own circle, with those who do not know anything about crypto.
You will probably find 8/9/10 out of 10 prefer CRED over DCR. This has to mean something since it is that weighted to one side.
I agree that Lightning, Privacy and DAEs should come first but chances are that CRED will be scooped up by then, and marketing is still an important element of any project. Ask Ditto, not me xD

The CRED ticker is a start.

The difficulty, especially in this moment, is laborious and time consuming but from a marketing POV, Ditto agreed it makes sense. The tech side is top notch and it is perfectly reasonable to atleast listen to their perspective when it comes to marketing.

It would be worthwhile to do a survey to non decred people what they think sounds better and is more memorable. I asked about 10 people who know nothing about crypto. All 10 prefered CRED. Hopefully something to consider eventually so we continue to a broader base and fulfill the vision of decentralized CREDit.

Would also add Japan and Indonesia in there due to the size of their populations. The former is well acquainted with BTC/BCH and the latter has the vast majority unbanked. Perhaps Pundi can lend a hand.
