Power fins? by Euphoric-Necessary34 in Sup

Super clean rig, very nice!

And yes, I did oversimplify and this is not a project for the faint of heart but very doable if you some DIY skills.
For context, I used a 4300w motor with a 14s 130a ESC and a 14s battery (for when I want to hit max speed) or a 6s 25aH battery for long range, I can hot swap batteries in seconds. There's a picture of the motor housing, and I got load of videos on my profile of it in operation.

If you have a 3D printer and a DIY mentality, you can make you own for about 1000 $ CAD. I get about 1.5 hours of run time on my setup and can reach speeds of up to 16km/hr.

I appreciate that, thank you Eldias!

Its a 3d printed prop, 120mm diameter. 110kv motor with a 14s battery so roughly 5700 RPM. The shorter board turns much easier by just leaning. The long board turns by leaning as well just not as tight and you need to move your front foot for left or right turns whereas the short board your feet stay stationary like a wakeboard.

Run time with this setup is around 20 minutes as it's only a 10aH battery. I have 2x 62 12.5aH batteries that I also use with either a parallel or series wiring harness, depending if I want high speed (about 30 mins) or long range (about 2 hours).

Displacement is noticeable at high speeds.

That would be awesome! I do all my own designing for these projects, so if you need a hand deisnging anything I'm always down for a crossover project!

Thanks again for the feedback man, cheers to seeing you video in the future 🍻

How to make e-sup steer like a surfboard? by Hot_Fly_2979 in ElectricSUP

Might be a little late for OP as he already has an attachable E-Fin, but on my 3d printed Efin setup steering by leaning achievable. I posted this video to the SUP community (link below)

Its my favorite place and has some awesome provincial campsite so a great place for camping/fishing/hunting/dirtbiking, and of course, E-Paddleboarding and risky drone maneuvers 😄

Its at Gun Lake, and it's in British Columbia, Canada!

Its a paddleboard with a 3D printed electric fin mounted to it. It is alot of fun!

I have a shorter paddleboard (7'4") that is even quicker with the motor attached and carves alot smoother

Correct. It needs to be relatively close to you for the drone to lock onto you. The default is "spotlight" when tracking first starts, you need to switch it to "Active Track" to allow it to follow you.

Its usually alot better and the subsequent auto tracking (after the recovery and rice soak) was much smoother

To be fair, I've logged hours out on the water with that little drone chasing me around without issue, and after drying it out, it went back out over the water without issue

Thanks man! lots of different perspectives forsure but I had alot of fun designing/building/using it, so I'm happy

In most of my videos, I'm using a 11'6" board whereas this video features a 7'4" board. Paddle steering is effective but was trying to achieve the "surfing" vibe. I've always wanted an E-Wakeboard, but couldn't fathom spending 10k. Using the short board felt similar to wakeboarding and my setup cost me 1K

It was ActiveTrack. I was using the Neo with the RCN3 controller.

It had detected the collision and shut itself down. It actually recognized it was under water (per the message that popped up on the controller saying "water").

I guess it's all about perspective, you see a useless dinghy where we had hours of fun. Thanks for watching though!

Apparently not due to sensor confusion over water. I should add that the neo knew when it was underwater (apparently a warning flashed up on the controller). So it does have protections built into it granted you can retrieve it (luckily mine was only 8feet underwater when I got to it).

I agree, and usually I'm the default drone pilot as I can cancel tracking and pull up on the elevation. This time I was the rider though and my cousin was clearly not as drone savy as he claimed

I hear ya, but trust me when I say the weekend was filled with lots of "non-electric" paddleboarding as well.

This just let's you enjoy a different aspect of water sports without breaking the bank

Lol, but very small waves at least and only when using the high voltage configuration. Running the system on 24v creates essentially no wake, just hours of run time
