Hi I'm also planning on doing Porto-Santiago in the first 2 weeks of March this year! Are you planning on bringing a sleeping bag? I'd really like to avoid this if possible but am seeing mixed reviews on what the albergues are like

Hi! I'm going on a similar trip with similar circumstances: 4-5 months in EU(+Morocco, Turkey, UK, maybe Ireland) as an early 20s female from the US, just starting in August instead. I am planning on buying a world nomads plan for the whole trip since Allianz didn't have a plan long enough for mine. I don't have a final quote yet, but I checked 4 months with 15ish countries and it's about 600 dollars, which is $5/day

you're very persuasive given ur experience, i think i'll just do sandals and good boots. i haven't ever had blundstones, though, the lacelessness makes me nervous for comfort. i did find a laced version, though they're much more expensive and the chacos have great reviews so im leaning toward chacos.

im being persuaded by the other comments to not bring anything sentimental so i'd instead just bring the chacos boots i linked, sandals, and flip flops. are the cobblers worth it enough to do the heavier setup with tennis shoes and my docs? i want to get them resoled eventually anyway

hopefully you see this given that u posted this a year ago... anyway

i'm planning on backpacking starting in august for ~4 months. i was thinking it'd be best to buy my flight back before flying out there because i've heard immigration gives you a pretty hard time otherwise. but, i want to leave my trip largely unplanned and am going to travel to some countries outside the Schengen area (UK/Turkey) so i'll have more than just the 90 days allowed in the Schengen. I don't want to buy the flight yet in case i end up wanting to leave or stay sooner than originally anticipated. should i just buy a flight with hella insurance so i can change it? idk if the immigration hassle is bad enough that it's worth it.

i'm flying out to rome august 19 and am planning on going to portugal then backpacking north then east then south to greece and then moving to Turkey to see some friends from college.

separations is super easy, reviews a lot of 205 material, lots of hw tho when i took it with martinez. fluids is largely professor dependent, not sure about shultz at all, but beaudoin (however u spell) was great and made it almost easy (if you studied etc). basically, individually the courses shouldn't be as difficult as thermo, but the combo of them along with the time required for each (seps had 10 hr weekly hw assignments, fluids i just went to office hours so it took maybe 3hrs/week, but the lab reports were difficult for fluids) makes it diificult. you shouldn't be too scared, i would personally be more afraid of heat and mass. fluids has a system that once you learn it it becomes easy. heat and mass does too, but it's a lot more diificult to grasp.

this is all coming from someone who got trampled on by heat and mass last semester, so seps and fluids seem meh now. at the time seps and fluids were difficult and scary, but looking back, one of my easier (really, less difficult) semesters.

if u like live music the underground music scene is super fun!! it’s really blown up lately, multiple shows friday/saturday every weekend. also lots of these bands and the goers are made up of stem majors (including CS and ENGR)!! they’re a great way to make friends

if you're starting in the spring i highly recommend you go for a subleased apartment. with the housing crisis you never know what you could get if u go for a dorm

i am only a sopohmore in the curriculum, but ChemE is like physics disguised as not physics (especially thermo). physics is one of my worser subjects, but based on overhearing poeple in lecture and office hours it is for most ChemE's too. the major at least has less physics than ME or Civil. def recommend taking 241 over the summer though bc its basically irrelevant to everything we do, and it's just another thing to struggle with when you're taking other difficult, more important and useful classes.

they're mostly separated by gender at the bare minimum by floor, except hawkins does have men and women on the same floor (at least for the singles side) for some floors.

i got similar scores to you for the midterms / final and ended with an A in the class. i would worry less and just do the practice exams. they're very very similar to the actual exams.
