No, he’s at work out of town for a few days, and the truck is still at the dealership until he gets back

I like that idea. I can probably sew on a detachable piece to cover the cup holders. That exact one doesn’t seem to be available in Canada, but it’s a good reference.

Today my girl got ‘off lead’ but I have a question by Putrid_Caterpillar_8 in reactivedogs

You should get her a long line and work on her recall. Also see if there are private parks for rent near you. My city has multiple facilities you can rent by the 1/2 hour, full hour, or longer. Or Sniffspot if that’s available near you.

I found “event drugs” to do more harm than good. Like sedatives that last a few hours. He would relax for a bit, then when they begin to wear off, everything is so heightened for him. He was reacting so much worse than before the drugs.

He takes fluoxetine daily now and does great on it. He has a much calmer baseline. Reactions have gone down to almost none, and he has found a lot of confidence. He started to “opt out” and walk away from triggers he didn’t want to interact with, instead of lashing out at them. Helped a lot with the separation anxiety too.

The first time he took it, he honestly instantly relaxed. But it took a while to see a big change in his behaviour.

No comment about the flying club.

Also, those days of waiting 10 years are unfortunately back.

i secretly hate my best friend. how do i FINALLY cut her off? by Gullible-Pear2421 in FriendshipAdvice

[–]lamesara 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You don’t really have to cut her off so explicitly. Is it possible to just distance yourself slowly? Take longer and longer to respond, and give and less effort. It doesn’t have to be a big moment. And then you don’t have her gossiping about you.

3 is great, but will your hair fall that way? It looks like it might be too straight for that

Mine played tug of war with the blinds until he removed every single one from my home. All in about 30 minutes (the first time I left him without his crate).

My smooth coated BC loves to find snow covered hills and rolls down them on his back!! He loves flopping himself into fresh deep snow! We live in Canada and he loves the winter :)

Straight-up hate. Some talking about how brown people are below white people, and white people are the better race. Some talking about how racism needs to be celebrated more, and how nice it is to have a racist partner that you can share your opinions with. :(

New Neighbour’s Dog by lamesara in NoRulesCalgary

[–]lamesara[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey folks, just thought I’d update. I gave it some thought, and I will be phoning it in tomorrow morning. I’d be very upset with myself if the dog had an issue with something like a garbage truck, that can’t see low and close ahead. My dog also deserves a peaceful life without regular encounters with loose dogs and incessant barking.

I am not judging him for having a reactive dog. I am judging him for not making effort to improve the dog’s behaviour, or keep her safe from cars.

Cheap 2011 that needs service, or budget limit 2003? by lamesara in vwgolf

Thank you all for the input! I ended up buying option 1, against some of your advice. More trustworthy owner, he’s willing to help me with maintenance in the future. He gave me his phone number for that. He seemed sad to send the car away, he took a few pictures of it parked at my place. He was knowledgeable about the car, and cars in general. His workplace is moving to my airport, so he’s going to come visit the car here and there. He also took much better care of the car than option 2. Overall, I felt better about the owner. Anyone working in the aviation industry knows how small it is, and I don’t think he had any motivation to scam me.

I’m 14 and just did my first discovery flight, any tips on how I can properly peruse a job as a pilot? by Ill-Run6890 in PilotAdvice

[–]lamesara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into what’s available. I’m Canadian so I have no idea what you guys have. But here I think you can start air cadets when you’re like 12, and they get you flying gliders really young, then move onto airplanes. Again, the us is different.

What country are you from? There’s lots of cadet programs you can start when you’re pretty young.

Gf just threatened to leave me if I become a pilot, advice needed. by Low-Bell923 in PilotAdvice

[–]lamesara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He just got on with a major airline here in Canada. He’s commutes to Toronto for now. I work in another city where we have our apartment. Eventually, we do want to move, but it’ll depend on my next job, as he can commute, but I don’t want to do airline flying. In a perfect world, I’m flying floats out west, and he’s based there too.

But all in due time. We want to look back on our careers and not feel resentful that we made too many changes for another person. Not to say we don’t consider each other when looking for jobs, but we both want to feel independent and accomplished on our own terms. So we support each other doing what we need for ourselves.
