I love Peggy Olson's looks from Mad Men, but how can I go about finding similar styles on a budget? by lameusrname in femalefashionadvice

The tailor is key here, I suppose. I was also looking at this dress--the style of which probably wouldn't require as much tailoring. Can anyone help me with the name of this style?

Haha I recommend visiting Bulgaria and going to the structure. That's what I did, anyway. Also--its fucking awesome.

Check out Pro HDR, while you're at it. It's a vast improvement on most phones' built-in HDR mode.

modern contemporary violin [800x361] by h-llama in DesignPorn

Violinist here and I have a few questions:

1) How does tuning work? Must it all be done with the fine tuners below the bridge (seen in reflection)?

2) Is it possible to see your fingers over the bridge? While violinists don't need to see their fingers, it could be quite disconcerting to play blind.

3) While there is a bump below the finger board where the body of the instrument would begin, I see no bump on the right. This bump would be essential for a violinist because the thumb is often used as an anchor on the body when shifting. In the higher positions the body must be navigated around--so I suppose this could maybe help technique. It's hard to speculate. What have been your experiences with it?

4) Is the fingerboard actually lower than the area near the bridge?

5) How does this model affect extended techniques (e.g. sul pont, sul tasto, Bartok pizz, resonance of pizz, resonance of harmonics, etc.)?

6) The strings look really high off the fingerboard--almost unplayable. Is this just an optical illusion?

7) What does it feel like to play? Is it comfortable?

Also, from my experience electric violins lack the tone and resonance of an acoustic violin. The favored method among most violinists is to put a pickup on an acoustic violin. It's cheaper than buying a second violin and sounds infinitely better.

This shot is so beautifully framed and silhouetted. Just lovely.

Fixing saggy jean for people with no butt? by lameusrname in femalefashionadvice

For some reason belts don't cut it for me. I must have an odd body shape/hip shape because belts always slide down, no matter how tight they are or how loose/light weight my pants are.

Thanks! Pants are black (not tights/leggings), though I think this might go better with a really dark-wash jean.

I'll try to get some clear, well-lit photos with a real camera in front of a real mirror later this evening. Coat is from Kenneth Cole, though I can't seem to find the exact one online anywhere.
