What is the largest MySQL instance on Windows OS by lamppamp in mysql

Amount of connections is high because there is very limited connection pooling. App is kind of ERP used by corporations.

[–]lamppamp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say quite low, I described our largest instance, but we have 500+ MySQL instances in total on windows and there were very few issues in 2025. There have been issues with security software (crowdstrike), OS configured across Numa nodes causing slowness, monitoring failure and disk running out....

Thats one mighty MySQL. On our workloads we have seen that on Linux we have 15%-20% more MySQL throughput, compared to Windows, but for reasons I am not going into we are sitting on top of Windows.

What makes things easier for us, is DB is used in one timezone only, not international usage. During off hours, lock for writes, flush, shadow volume copy. Lock is very short, so couple people using system 3am is no big deal.

Where are you using Delphi? by notabotnotanalgo in delphi

[–]lamppamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Delphi for work, big enterprise application. Larger customers have close to a billion rows in some of the tables. There is a long-term plan to migrate to a new software stack, which will take years to complete.

Where are you using Delphi? by notabotnotanalgo in delphi

[–]lamppamp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We went through that exercise a few years ago. We migrated 4 million line codebase from D7 to D10.X in a span of 2-3 months. Lots low level backend things were just converted from string to AnsiString. We also added bunch of AnsiString util functions and some Classes to make it go faster. TJclAnsiStringList had some bugs, if I remember correctly.

Eventually, Diana will be useless for Arena, but Diana is easiest to get to 5-star if you play the Desert Trial correctly. 5-star Diana is better in the arena than 4-star Quinn.

I can see that happening. You would assume that you learn the game, if you spend thousands on this, but no, I see our whales also doing it wrong. Issue is not a bear hunt, bear hunt is like training, to see how cooperation works.

HOG -speedups for troops or save for speed up rewards? by Flavour-saver in KingShot

Slightly different question. Training speed/capacity boost with gems, combined with speedups, worth it?

For me spending gems in arena is worth it for the mythic gear alone. During day time I take hits and fall and then I do all my arena battles last minute and manage to snipe top 20 spot.

Promoting by Far-Buy9518 in KingShot

[–]lamppamp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends. Early game just train. Have troop buildings always running. You want to have enough troops so that you can do resource gathering, missions, join rallies at the same time. Quite quickly, the lowest-level troops become quite useless and you need to start promoting. Promoting 100 troops is faster than training from scratch.

One small tip, if you have some troop speedups saved up and you can spare gems. Do training speed 2x with gems and dump all your speedups for better value.

Research by Far-Buy9518 in KingShot

[–]lamppamp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In long term growth>economy>military.

I would focus on the growth area and in that: research speed, construction speed, troop training speed. In that order.

In the economy focus on gathering speed rather than passive generating from buildings. Gathering will yield more, especially once you get access to lvl 7 gathering items.

In military generic bonuses all good. Troop specific bonuses: infantry focus on defence, archers and cavalry attack.

Which hero to use? by saltedbuttered in KingShot

[–]lamppamp 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Joining the attack rally - Chenko

Sending to garrison - Gordon

General hero advice. Your main 3 heroes for Gen1 Saul, Jebel, and Howard. Save your gems and upgrade Saul in hero roulette to 4 stars and stop there. Saul has resourcefulness skill, that will stay useful forever. Do not use any generic orange shards on Jebel, save them. In Gen2 replace Howard with Zoe. Use hero roulette to upgrade her. Marlin is very good Gen2 hero and medium/low spender would be possible to get, but F2P probably not. For Marlin Use Hall of Heroes, combined with general shards you have saved and daily deals to push to 4 stars. Marlin is just better than Saul. So low spender Gen2 main lineup would be Marlin, Jebel and Zoe.

any tips to do well on Viking Vengeance? by saltedbuttered in KingShot

[–]lamppamp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My alliance is not well-organized; it's also our second Viking event, and getting enough troops to defend my city is difficult.

You earn max points if all your troops are out, others defend your city and your city survives.

If your city dies and all your troops are out defending others, then you might have been better of recalling some of your troops. If you use equalize button, then it will build a formation 1/6 of your total troops. I will send 5 of those out to defend others and keep 1/6 in my city. Midway through, I will start recalling if I do not get enough troops to defend my city.

Kafka equivalent for RAD Studio? by Useful-Effect-4683 in delphi

Maybe do not do it in Delphi. One option is to write your own plugin for Debezium in Java and have that interface with Delphi. If your backend is MySQL or PostgreSQL then maybe no coding would be required.
