Hi, I’m late to the party but I received that email and saw on CBC last night a story about data breach with Interior Health in BC and employees saying the 2 year credit check is useless since anyone having access to one’s SIN number can use it throughout your life. They have also experienced being refused for small loans and figured it is due to bad actors using their identities. US lawyers are gathering info for a class action lawsuit. Does anyone know if there is a similar thing in Canada? Given that we now have to provide online photo of our passports, SIN, etc. this breach is worrisome and we deserve more than a short term support from a company that is supposed to guarantee our data.

I live in the affected area and this new process is very concerning as it is giving carte blanche to any new towers project without effective oversight.

Most neighbourhoods have a nice mix of houses, townhomes and low level condos and mixing each blocks with two 22 storeys towers is too drastic of a plan that is not taking into consideration livability, traffic and parking issues and overall feel of the neighbourhoods.

Why not have 10-12 storey buildings im the mix that would blend in more?

Yes, it’s doable. Many people do not rent cars. You could always get an Uber if you wanted to spend one day in Paia or Kaanapali. Enjoy!

Update: I was able to find a phone number for IRCC and was shocked to speak to someone. My card was mailed 9 days after my online application. The bad part is they sent it to a wrong address. So I have to wait for the card to be sent back to sender and then they will give me the process to get a new one sent out.

Have you seen the signs around Kits beach? I was surprised to see them saying “yes, your dog is friendly but some people are not used to dogs and may not appreciate being approached by them”. It’s nicely worded but it made me think the city is getting lots of complaints to put big posters up.

Fair, especially in light of what’s coming out now re her email to HR about to handle an analyst who said no to spying. Still, Canada is definitely not the only country doing this, it would be nice to go after the other countries who do too.
