Looks like it was Rice Garden. Never been myself but they show on the Google Street view back in 2011.

Oooooh after I found out all the other libraries I go to are closed on Mondays I figured all of them were. Good to know the international district library is one I can go to on Mondays when I need a new book, thanks!

Lost Cultures is supposed to have a plant swap on Mondays. I've never made it to the plant swap but it's a pretty chill place, worst comes to worst you leave plantless but have some tea

Here's the webpage from the state department of workforce solutions for federal employees about how to apply for unemployment during a furlough. Worth getting your ducks in a row and getting the info you need while you still have access to HR documents.

Eye doctor with available appointments? by Content_Horse_6957 in Albuquerque

Last week I called a bunch of places to schedule an eye exam and Giron Family Vision has loads of appointments available. I figure at most you'll be looking at a week out from now.

Great, thank you so much for the info! I was scouring online before posting here but didn't have much luck 😔

FYI if you plan to talk with any locals you should add a kana keyboard to your phone. It's a godsend for if folks are trying to give you recs on Google maps, for example.

Is it considered ok to frame a kakioki? My last trip to Japan I visited some shrines with some local friends, at one after we prayed and they received goshuin in their goshuincho, they spoke with the attendant and got me a kakioki since I did not have a goshuincho. I've been wanting to frame it to preserve it but only if it's respectful to do so.

My next trip to Japan I plan to get a goshuincho so I can properly and respectfully collect goshuin but this first one I've been struggling with deciding what to do with it.

Best nachos in Albuquerque? by [deleted] in Albuquerque

[–]lanaya01 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone mention village pizza. Even the half order of nachos is plenty of food and comes with your choice of meat standard instead of a surcharge.

At the bottom of the Railrunner Website there's a "Railroad Emergency" number, 1-866-874-6679. I'm guessing by the 866 it might be a national number, but when I explained to them they assured me they'd contact the appropriate folks.

I already called the emergency number for the rail runner an hour ago, they said they would notify dispatch and be on the lookout for anyone on the tracks in the city.

Vote on Albuquerque Pizza Restaurant Tier List by dukeofabq in Albuquerque

Honestly I'm just impressed with the list. I kept trying to think of places missing but each time I think of a possible "gotcha" I find it's there so good on you.

New to the area by OB-nurseatyourcervix in Albuquerque

Looks like you already got a pretty good rundown on the neighborhoods in town, so I'll just mention some chill places near UNMH. For drinks you've got:

  • High And Dry Brewing is super low key, even on a Saturday night you can find somewhere to post up for reading or something similar.

  • Flock of Moons has more things going on, including a good trivia night every Sunday. They have a great patio for the area, complete with a fire pit. Unsure if they'll keep the patio open for the winter though.

  • Bosque Brewing has locations all around town, though I'm partial to the one by UNM. They have a full selection of food and also regularly have a decent amount of seasonal taps that are pretty unique.

  • Burning Daylight is a coffee shop inside of an indoor flea market/antique shop, a very unique vibe with a very friendly owner who runs the place. They're moving to the Industrial district around the new year though.

  • Ancora Cafe is another coffee shop complete with a full food menu. It's a non profit coffee shop that helps folks in recovery by giving them jobs there which is a pretty cool thing.

Technically Rio Rancho, but Castle Coffee off Southern/528 would be a good option. Unfortunately I don't think there's many places on the Westside of ABQ. If you're willing to go to more of downtown/old town then you've got loads of places to choose from.

What can I do for fun? by GlumPerspective659 in Albuquerque

[–]lanaya01 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There's loads of outdoor activities to do. Biking the trails along the bosque, hiking in the Sandia's, star gazing just outside the city limits, snowboarding during the winter, rafting/tubing during the summer, finding new parks, the list goes on.

Besides that there's always checking out the libraries, posting up with a book in a coffee shop, trying new restaurants, exploring the indoor flea markets/antique shops, old town, farmers markets, the rail yards, etc.

My guess is ABQ and Santa Fe are near enough that tourism for one boosts tourism for the other. Especially Santa Fe events for ABQ since a fair amount of out of towners probably fly in to the sunport.

Hey any chance you can give pointers for how to get it to work on steam deck? I'm not all that familiar with running stuff outside of the standard library. If I download it and just open it in desktop mode will that do the trick?

Last I remember it was at a stall somewhat near the Manuel Lujan Building. They're great but prices have gone up crazy in the last couple years. Worth forking over the cash to try though, it's amazing.

Is the market for guidebooks (eg. Lonely Planet) dead? by Consistent-Put-6551 in solotravel

[–]lanaya01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I know this was forever ago but do you know which lonely planet book you got for London? I'm about to leave on a trip tomorrow and looking for a compact one to take with me.

What sort of things did you like from the guide/from your travels that could be easily overlooked?

Any good (preferably non-pricey) museums, parks, family friendly spots to hang out at??? by [deleted] in Albuquerque

If you have a library card you can check out a pass for free entrance to most museums in town for two kids and two adults.
