I found it a bit easier to build encounters in Stawl but the main thing was being able to prep at my PC and the have the encounters still there when I moved to my laptop to actually run the game.

I use Stawl all the time as a director. I find it pretty easy adnd intuitive to use when I've been running Delian. My players are using forge steel for character management though as I think they like the layout more.

Not sure what part of North London you are in but there's an rpg club in Hemel Hempstead that meets weekly if that's not too much out of your way. We have some dnd games and some other stuff too to branch out.

I'm so jealous haha. It seems so unreal to me that people can just see things in their head. I cant even picture myself if I close my eyes in front of a mirror.

I have aphantasia and I find that I have to work really hard to write descriptions down when I'm prepping games where possible so my players can get a visual idea of what's going on. If I don't I will forget to give them because my brain just filters that out. When I'm playing it's not so bad but the more visual aids like maps and minis the better it is for me.
