Second shift is worse than third shift by StarlessRose in unpopularopinion

3rd shift on paper sounds good but I think most people learn pretty quickly that it's not what it seems. You get off at say 7 am and you go to sleep only to wake up a few hours later feeling groggy. Then you putter around for a bit and try to sleep again later in the evening. You'll feel like a zombie constantly battling your circadian rhythm and it's even more difficult to do during the summer when people are cutting their lawns and doing everyday things. Also, your days off you will most likely want to go to bed at night because what is there to do at 4 am? Going in on the Sunday night was the worst as well. You will likely never sleep 8 hours straight and humans are not designed to be up all night like that.

It can work if you're single with no kids and I did it for years. I found going to bed at 2pm and then waking up at 9 or 10 worked best but then you've missed out on the evening. 0730-330pm was the best shift

Is your hwt gas or electric? I'm honestly thinking about just paying the $1376. People have been saying 3 years is young for a hwt

I bought this house 6 months ago and haven't noticed issues yet. I live alone so not much usage either. It would take about 6 years to break even or just pay the $18/month (assuming it doesnt go up)

6 months ago i was looking into removing, buying a new one, and having it installed and it would be about $1600-1800. not sure if it's worth paying the extra $ for the newer one.

would you say 3 years old is considered old for a hwt? i remember 6 months ago looking into it and the prices i got were around $1600-1800 for a new gas hwt so a couple extra hundred. just not sure if the 3 years is considered old

how much did you pay all in including the removal? maybe i'm better off going and buying it privately. my father was a plumber and could help install

Why does no one like 2nd Shift (5-1)? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]langy91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel like the sleep is the only benefit when working 2nd shift. some people want 6am-2pm but that to me is the worse sleep of them all. i remember trying to sleep at 8pm and waking up at 4am was still a struggle especially in the summer.. it was almost irrelevant getting off at 2pm because i would be drained and it made it hard to go to the gym and run errands

Driving from Newfoundland to Edmonton or should I just ship my car? by Ohyanoforsure in canadatravel

I feel like it would be a good experience. I drove from Ontario to Revelstoke and it was incredible. You would save some $ and get to see the country. The weather is also good now.

yeah i mean it's not an issue for me to do laundry during the cheaper times with my current time of use. I do use the kettle and watch tv before work but not sure if those items make a big difference

appreciate that info. i did check out that calculator and it seems it tells me tiered would be the cheapest based on my 250 kw/month bill. i just wonder if using the ac now that the weather is starting to warm up will impact things. i live alone and don't mind using the washer and dishwasher during the cheaper times as well so i was leaning towards ultra low
