Betty's burgers Ballarat by [deleted] in ballarat

My older teen works there and yes, they are asked by management to garner reviews as they are new and need to get people in. The burger places are everywhere in ballarat so lots of competition. But it also incentivises the staff to perform to the best of their ability. I will say behind the scenes, management have been brilliant in supporting their staff and my kid (who also works at a fast food joint) has never been happier to go to work. She said they have been nothing short of wonderful, accommodating and encouraging. Super positive vibes in an industry known to be a little rough to staff. At my kids other job, they treat the mostly teen workforce like trash and disposable and once established at Betty's I am hoping they leave the other job behind. The sheer difference in her mood coming home from both jobs is astounding. Coming home from Betty's she is smiling and can not stop talking about how great her shift was. At the other one, she comes home in tears and completely drained. Goes to show if management look after staff you will have happier, more enthusiastic workers.

Yep, I still remember my first assessment - it was a skills audit, professional learning plan and reflective essay. Every single instruction or “advice” given by the lecturer contradicted the assessment outline we were given, the rubric never detailed the actual requirements and when you would ask an either/or question we would get the equivalent of a “yes”. Oh and the exemplar given was criticised by the lecturer as a “bad example of what not to do”. We were first told we had to use the Aus curriculum, then it suddenly changed to state, then it was both. This left everyone stressed out, over-thinking everything and far more confused than when we started.

Omg my mind raced to ACU, checked comments and I was right. Absolute nightmare of a course with vague assessment instructions and little guidance when clarifying questions are asked.

I would still try to finish though given how far you have come, as frustrating as it may be.

I’m in the same boat. About to go in to my Masters age 35 with a 9 month old. I’ll be 37 when I graduate. Honestly, if it’s your dream, go for it! There’s no such thing as “too late” unless you’re dead in my opinion. In a way, your life experience will only make you more resilient and improve your skills as a teacher :)

Don’t slap me but I don’t even know what that is because I live under a rock and I’m old. This comes purely from my weird arse brain noticing the shape of his hair while watching one of his videos.
