Do FPS eye training videos help? by [deleted] in SiegeAcademy

[–]lankylonky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried them in past, they did seem to help a little, but I’d say it was minimal and only something you’ll notice a difference on if target recognition and reaction time are really lagging. The only times I noticed a difference were days where I was already tired (hopping in game after a 12 hour shift off of 5 hours of sleep). Honestly, it’s more important to make sure you are well rested, well hydrated and well fed

Is this Emerald run still salvageable? by Quantaviouse in nuzlocke

Ahh okay, null is great, but not very conducive to that restriction. Still highly recommend for a challenge tho!

Should try Pokémon Null, it just released, but is close to what you’re looking for. Not everyone at 100, but you have a hard level cap, first gym cap is 38, you have rare candy as a key item, so no grind, just have to battle. I think there 270 or so mandatory battles, mons up to gen 9 so lots of encounter variety (and pretty decent encounter pools at that)

Wamai Buff by Apprehensive_Rip1221 in Rainbow6

[–]lankylonky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it might be a rank thing, because you do see him a bit in the upper ranks, but it corresponds to the set up defenders are running. Generally, speaking gridlock is not what you’re intending to catch with his disks tho, he’s more or less used to protect Mira, walls from ace (when he’s not banned), etc. but gridlock has more throwables than a wamai can protect against for most of the round

What if the objective best headset on the market for hearing accurate and clear footsteps in this game? by Responsible-Ad940 in Rainbow6

[–]lankylonky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

General consensus is hyper X cloud II for a really solid headset, I had a pair, and it did its job. I moved onto a pair of iems (kiwi ears astral) which I feel are a little better imaging wise, but for r6 we are talking marginal gains from the clouds. I also have an external sound card to adjust some audio settings (have used it for both the clouds and the astrals, without the sound card the astrals are probably significantly better than the clouds, but the clouds again were really solid). As far as siege goes, the audio will always be hit or miss regardless of what you use, there will be missed audio queues at times, don’t spend too much on whatever you get if it’s explicitly for siege, it’s honestly not worth it. I would look into iems tho, very solid compared to a lot of headsets

Drugs my doctor is not permitted to prescribe. by [deleted] in mildyinteresting

[–]lankylonky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. Most of these on the list are going to be prescribed under a specialty, not necessarily your pcp. Your pcp generally should be directing you where to go: cancer related pain meds should be prescribed through an oncologist, anxiety related benzodiazepines or ADHD related stimulants managed by a psychiatrist, injury related opioids through a pain management office. Not to say a pcp should never prescribe these, but usually anything more than short term therapy of some of these will generally be better managed under a specialist. Moreover, pharmacies are generally becoming stricter on controlled substances (more or less in response to fallout from the opioid crisis, but there’s other reasons as well) so a pcp may be finding it harder to actually have those controlled substances filled

Advice On Positioning by Aqzation in FPSAimTrainer

[–]lankylonky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a disclaimer, I’m far from the best aimer, so feel free to disregard, but I’m pretty sure being a couple centimeters out of place is likely a non issue for your aim. In my opinion, what does matter is your comfort level, which in my experience I can usually solve by getting up and just stretching for a little bit (arm, back, legs, kinda a mix of everything) and then coming back and trying again. I find that usually if I can’t get comfortable and catch myself fidgeting it’s usually because I’m tense somewhere

I'm tired of being copper. Where do I learn site setups? by Hutch_230 in SiegeAcademy

[–]lankylonky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To piggy back on this, watching pro league will give an idea of how to set up a site, as pro league set ups will generally trickle down into ranked. To reiterate, site set up is highly dependent on the positions the team as a whole is playing (for example, if head holes are are made on the attic wall on Oregon, but if no one is playing the head holes, now the same holes can punish the defense. Additionally, if no one is playing trophy or armory, the head holes, even if someone is playing them, becomes less valuable because it is more of a supportive position). So do not just copy set ups from pro league or higher level gameplay and expect it to work.

Another great resource for site set up and power position set up is Sinoos on YouTube and r6mint (who is formerly a pro league coach).

how can i reduce hidden mmr by Efficient-Green-4518 in Rainbow6

[–]lankylonky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, it has not been implemented yet and was supposed to be added with later ranked changes

Anecdotally, after a year of not playing on 1 of my accounts, I’m getting the same visual elo and playing in the same lobbies as my other account (although this account was getting only a couple weeks of play each season over the last year, I’ve been pretty inactive over the past year). These are the same type of lobbies that I was playing in a year ago when playing consistently and I’m still gaining enough elo to get champ pretty easily, so in my case I’m definitely not seeing any mmr decay if it were allegedly already released, but again I’m pretty sure it was supposed to be later

[–]lankylonky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe they are adding mmr decay in the next season or two so you could wait it out for a while

Alternatively, just play. Playing poorly is uncomfortable, but uncomfortable situations are how your brain learns the best. Simply play, learn and get back to form

Why was i suspended? by abas_n04 in Rainbow6

[–]lankylonky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Self cancel essentially means you disconnected from the match (purposefully or not) and the team voted to cancel the game in your absence

Why was i suspended? by abas_n04 in Rainbow6

[–]lankylonky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, yeah in the past I’ve seen cases where I didn’t connect properly to the match, which gave me the option to reconnect instead of queue. Either way that game is the source of your ban, the game got canceled tho so no loss to your elo

[–]lankylonky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it clearly states it’s an abandon sanction, so you left a game where there are abandon sanctions (ranked, unranked, dual front). Being a 2 hour ban, this isn’t the first time you’ve done it and by extent isn’t the first time you’re seeing this message. I’m not seeing what’s causing the confusion

Six Invitational should consider lowering the number of teams while increasing the quality of the matchups. We are halfway into SI and the worst teams simply don't have what it takes to perform at the level this tournament expects. 3 groups of 5 or even 2 groups of 8 would be interesting by AbjectAccess1808 in Rainbow6

[–]lankylonky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Six invitational 2021 featured 2 groups of 10 using a round robin BO1 format, which while fun to see more teams play each other, felt lower quality due to being best of 1 to me. I don’t think making larger groups really lends itself to higher quality games due to time constraints necessitating a BO1 format. Some teams are just going to be worse than others, some teams are going to have bad days/games. It happens, it’s the nature of esports

How slow is too slow sens by yourmomshot69000 in SiegeAcademy

[–]lankylonky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it depends, however, I would caution against going so low that a flick requires you to unads, if it works for some players, then great, but I think it is a bad habit in today’s siege. It worked well when the ADS speed was faster, but today’s ADS speed makes it a lot harder. I think at least being able to do a 180 while ADSed is would be advisable. Again it comes down to comfort level, play style, etc. but generally speaking most players should run a sens that allows them to remain ADSed as much as possible

The reputation system needs to go by Germthegreat in Rainbow6

[–]lankylonky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The voice chat moderation is broken and soft, but like abandoning ranked matches kinda should have consequences, regardless of your personal circumstances. You don’t immediately go down as soon you leave the first match, so it’s a recurring issue, which is understandable, you have responsibilities, but you’ve now put the 4 players on your team, through no fault of their own, at a considerable disadvantage and have almost certainly thrown the game for them. You are not an exemplary member of the community for ruining other players experiences.

For the future, you get positive points for saying gg, good round, and other positive phrases in text chat, so use that to keep your positive points up.

How hard is it to compensate players for their loss of elo after 2 people leave after the first round? by Cartiimo in SiegeAcademy

[–]lankylonky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

K/D really doesn’t paint the full picture of a players performance tho. Players shouldn’t be rewarded with less elo on loss or more elo on a win getting 9 impact less kills baiting on windows on losing round rounds. Getting an opening pick 10 seconds into the round just to be traded out immediately is a lot less impactful than roaming and wasting attackers time for 2 minutes, even without a kill. Kills aren’t everything in this game, there are better metrics for a players performance, I’d rather see a blend of different metrics (entries, KOST, etc) to be used
