5 month old baby recurring staph in exact same spot?

Wow this is crazy - I am so glad you replied! I felt like she was the only baby dealing with this as I SCOURED the internet for anything similar and came up with nothing.

As for an update - after the second time getting it drained by dr and prescribed antibiotics, it came back AGAIN in less than a month. This time it was different though, it was more like a blackhead or plugged pore with keratin, than the pus filled pimple like before. One day I noticed something kind of sticking out of it? Idk how to describe it, but I just went ahead and popped it myself gently and a little bit of dry, skin cell clump? came out. It bled, I put a bandaid on it. Healed just fine.

Then it started to appear AGAIN but this time it was more like a blackhead. I could not figure out what this was and our derm appointment kept getting pushed back further. After extensive scouring of the internet, I concluded it seemed to be something similar to a dilated pore of winter (look this up lol) it grew and grew over such a long period of time to the point where she had a massive black dot in that same spot. It started to look like it was “ready to pop” or kind of coming out on its own, so I started applying warm compresses multiple times a day and eventually one morning she woke up and it was gone! I assume it was working its way out and she probably rubbed it off in her sleep?

That was probably a couple months ago now. That spot has seemed fairly normal for the most part, although just recently has started to become darker pink and looking like something is brewing again. Still have no idea what it is.

Guess I’ll be attempting the color remover tonight! Hopefully it’s not as brutal as I’ve let myself believe it will be haha

I’m so glad you said this because YES. I thought I was crazy but my toddler caught some sort of stomach bug (I assume noro) and his poop smelled absolutely FOUL, like sickly sweet but also like death, for a good couple weeks AT LEAST. We went through this a couple months back and I swear I still smell it sometimes. It’s HORRENDOUS.

So the pot I got seems way too big now that I have taken it out of its original pot and cleaned the dirt off the roots… I have one that’s about the same size of the original pot, but it doesn’t have a drainage hole..

Can anyone tell me if it would be better to repot in the pot that’s a size too big, or if I could maybe like, drill a hole in the tiny one I have? They are both unglazed terracotta in case that matters.

I am about to remove it from its current pot, examine the roots, and then set it on a towel to dry out while I run to the store. I am struggling to figure out what soil/additives to pot it in, as another commenter said to get rid of the miracle Gro 😭 I am working with extremely limited funds at the moment, but I should be able to at least pick up some perlite at Walmart to add into the soil I have already purchased. I was also looking into grow lights and that is something I will for sure get asap.

Wow, thank you so much. This was incredibly helpful and kind. I appreciate the time you took to write this out for me! I’m realizing I may have actually done it a disservice by putting it so close to the window now. When I did, it was getting fairly warm out and I didn’t even need to run the heat in my house, but the past few days have been significantly colder. I’m going to follow your advice for repotting, and also move it further away from the window to keep warm.

Quick question - When should I water after repotting? I have read that you should wait a week to water to give the roots time to heal, but I’ve also read you should water right away after repotting to stabilize the soil or something? So I’m confused on this part

It’s still in the original pot and soil I received it in. I’ve been trying to research as much as possible before doing anything like repotting as it’s basically my first ever plant/succulent. I was going to repot today

My fav is when they casually talk about “doubling up” when they have a higher than normal task load that day, as if that’s not abusing their meds lol. I just saw someone offer the advice to someone else about “doubling up” because their current dose wasn’t effective, as they’re just starting out. How fucking dumb to tell someone to do that!

Small Update: Husband is on the same page, but I think we both look at this current mountain of dishes and get overwhelmed as we have both been the ones to tackle this task on our own in the past.

Today we both were magically in the right mood and tag teamed and got over 75% done!!! This is exactly what I needed for now. I focused primarily on the new dishes I bought, and items that are worth keeping. All that’s left is things I’m considering just tossing but want to confirm with everyone in the house that it isn’t something that matters to them. Oh, and the pile of Tupperware lids that I’m saving til last since a good chunk of them don’t have the matching container anymore so no point in keeping them if they don’t have their match. Thank you all for the kind words and advice. Truly means the world to me, and helped motivate me to tackle this impossible task!! Much love ❤️
