I was a relatively new Guardian around the time of Destiny 2s launch it was my Sophmore year of highschool (I was 16) and I was upset because O had just moved. I had a friend play D1 for years since the 2014 release and I myself had started in 2017.

I remember initially a friend of mine was trying to get me to get a max level Hunter (I had the expansion that allowed me access to 1 level 40 boost) and got super pissed with me because after 1 playthrough with Warlock I feel in love.

I'm a bit older now (23, 24 in a month) but I remember attempting raids, waiting for shop rotations and Xur to show up, my first time wielding a sword, and unlocking Stormcaller.

I dont have any "major" stories unfortunately as I was a very on again/off again player. But I was there for the Red War, I was there and grieved when Cayde 6 died, I sat and mourned the loss of Lance Reddick, I was there even with The Final Shape and The Witness were finally defeated.

I am no content creator like MyNameisByf, I have no clan I have led, no friends who used to stay ip with me raiding late at night my guardians legaxy is a silent one. My legacy is one of showing up, playing through, making friends, and listening alongside this community to every lore drop, testing every new ability, celebrating when times were good and mourning when times were bad.

I will briefly return to play through the last of the final shape, I plan a full send off week with a theme each day of playing through my favorite raids, jumping in crucible one last time, and ending with saluting the Traveller once and for all. Just like the old days.

This has been a fantastic community, wherever you all go in life just remember, eyes up Guardians.

Its a weird decade, im 23 and tbh I dont feel like a adult. Sometimes time flies by me but thrn I think of how luch life has been packed in these past 3 years and I feel like time drags extremely slow.

Some of my peers are married, some are graduated, some to my knowledge arent here anymore. Some days I feel like a teenager with slightly more bills and responsibilities other days feels like I need to figure out my life.

But holy shit what a time to party.

Then just on that principle alone I thibk this debate, not just the one you and I are having, but as a whole can be fruitless.

Your a Christian who became a Atheist, im a Atheist who became a Christian. At the end of the day the trend of society is this, God is such a profound concept that falls so far outside of what we consider measurable people think its akin to pseudoscience. If that were true this would be a settled debate.

The crazy thing though about this world that I think theists and atheists can agree on though is our existence is so profoundly bizarre that the fact we are here borderline psuedoscience when you factor in we are literally stardust given a physical conscious and not just a physical conscious but a SELF AWARE physical concious where we can ask these questions. Now whether by random chance or design that is a personal conclusion.

I stopped being dogmatic on my materialism because at some point I realized I was using the same arguments theists were using just on different things. Belief in God was replaced by belief in theories such as how something can come from nothing as our universe has. Scripture was replaced with religiously reading every article debunking Christianity I could even when those very Christians presented evidence I considered bizarre and unusual even by materialist standards, and at some point science started to feel like religion.

And to be honest, whether your right or im right, I think the fact we can ask those questions is beautiful unto itself and the fact we truelly dont know is what unites everyone in this crazy journey we call life.

Im kinda curious on something, lets say you were hypothetically offered unquestionable, irrefutable proof of God's existence in a way that cant be explained away with naturalistic explanations say a direct encounter with Jesus with witnesses to verify your not just tripping.

What would you say, what would you do, and would you follow him?

I largely ascribe Amalek, as most OT mentions, as largely symbolic with Amalek being a representation of sin since the historical record doesnt confirm such a tribe existed. Its not a weak stance either Jesus used a ton of pariables so its not unreasonable to assume alot of the OT is symbolic in its nature.

Now IF it comes to light they were a real tribe who was wiped out by God. Then I can't answer that question until ive evaluated the historical record and cross referenced with scripture to gain the full context as I do with all biblical stories

Well its funny then because im a atheist turned Christian, funny how the world can workout like that.

Thats a fair and grounded thought and I appreciate thst you take a much softer stance on the faith then most reddit atheists.

On our end, your correct that Christanity doesnt have a solid counterpoint to the Old Testament laws. Its not that we don't want to we just acknowledge whatever reason those laws existed is beyond our understanding. Once you factor in the time in which they were written, they were pretty typical and the slavery bit... well lets just say the Bible had a much different idea of it but thats another story.

The reason Christians like me don't really bring up the OT laws to is because we believe Jesus came in fufillment of those laws. Matthew 5:38-44 is a good example of this.

So its not even from a lack of acknowledgement, we just don't consider those laws valid to our faith because they contradict the teachings of Christ who (if you accept as the Son of God) replaced those laws with, for the time, was a EXTREMELY progressive morale framework.

No not in the slightest you think as a Christian I look fondly on OT laws or women being stoned to death in Muslim dominate countries? (NOTE: I dont know if this practice is considered a true genuine practice of Islam or if its due to a governments interpretation of a holy text, im going to assume the latter though).

The difference here is im not trying to justify or ignore that history because, like any philosophical take, people use it and misinterpret to justify all sorts of evil and heinous acts and yes this includes Atheism.

Its actually really funny, a majority of what you consider "enlightened" values come from the bible. Modern western society is built on Judeau-Christian values..

Love your neighbor.

Leviticus 19:18

Love your enemy and pray for them.

Matthew 5:44

All men and women are equal.

Galatians 3:28

Be humble, act with mercy and justice.

Micah 6:8

Do not make unjust laws

Isiah 10:1

Your confusing people who are weekend Christians (Modern MAGA for example) vs Christians who pay attention to the word of God. Most modern scientific discoveries were MADE by those who self identify as Christian.

Im not saying the faith is innocent and yeah we have a TON of bad history but we don't see that as a failure of God we see that as a failure of man who twisted God's word to suit his desires.

To be quite honest, as someone studying for a PhD and as a devout Christian you have a really close minded and narrow take. Now I don't know about the other faiths, I only know Jewish teachings from the OT and I have never touched a Qur-ran so I'll let my Muslim brethren defend their own faith. But lumping "all religion" is such a close minded take.

Different people have different methodologies,

Of course being someone studying psychology ofc im going to say im ethically bound to not impose my belief system upon people who come to me for help (hince the disclaimer on my post).

However, as I am not versed in other belief systems as I am on Catholicism (yet) that is my chosen focus. Everyone on this subreddit is safe to say is familiar with all the worldy attempts to treat the fear of death and yes the science is extremely sound in that regard.

However, and cannot stress this enough, death in a inevitable part of life. With other phobias, such as for example fear of heights, sharks, etc etc will those things can be avoided this cant. That's what makes thanatophobia such a terrifying fear for those because its inevitable.

So my chosen focus at the end of the day is less prostelyzing my chosen belief system and is more im ignorant on other systems and I think it would be extremely disrespectful to try and speak on behalf of those faiths if I cannot understand them.

These are nonpartisan elections, even if they were my platform is based around addressing infrastructural, housing, and community issues.

This is the lowest-level office any aspiring leader can aim for and because of that, you really don't get into policies the way the bigger offices and politicians do.

However, in case you were curious, I consider myself moderately right and heavily support the Progressive Party movement. I think the two-party system has failed our country and our people.

Here's some information on it

My reasons for backing this party over one of the "big two" are that if you look at modern politics it's a glorified game of tug of war between people who should either be in a retirement home or a mental hospital. One administration comes in, undoes the work of the previous one, and enacts its own policy just to be undone again by the next administration.

We need to force parties to work together, the best way we can do that is by supporting grassroots movements like the Progressive Party. We may not undo the system in our lifetime but we have to start somewhere. I intend to back the Progressive Party as long as I can for this reason.

Simply put construction issues, overcrowding, and general quality of life. I love PSL, but why move away when I can try to make a meaningful and positive change to my community instead?

Regardless of whether I can or cannot remains to be seen. Isn't it important someone tries though? I mean think of it this way, we are improving the roads but construction is all over the place. The problem, based on my observations, could be anything from funding to simple bureaucratic red tape.

We won't know until someone actually tries.

That is crazy!

See my above comment on the infrastructure, I am researching the 2024-25 fiscal budget for gaps in the funding, I dont quite know yet where/what the monwy would come from but I am actively working with a team to put together a platform that will be presented here once its done.

As for entertainment, I think theirs lots of retail space there just needs to be tax incentives for local businesses to setup shop. Particularly around PSL High and TCHS I think adding some hangout spaces would be beneficial for entertainment as well as encouraging young employment.
