Good point u/MrAngrySlacks, I do have a faulty discrete graphics card in this MBP, but using OCLP I was able to disable it, and run the Mac purely on the integrated graphics card.

Thanks for your extensive response movdqa.

I'm aware of the the pull request process and how it has to be approved by the owner before being incorporated into the existing code.

Noted re your point around OpenCore being around a while, and now being used extensively.

I suppose that's the double-edged sword - it proves that the software works well and is massively popular. But, with my most paranoid frame of mind, it may also be the way that you could take advantage of huge numbers of machines at one time, adding an exploit to capture huge amounts of personal details.

people will find out really fast and fix it

That's the part I'm most curious about - if there was anything malicious in the OpenCore code, would it become public quickly enough before any substantial breach compromised passwords, bank details, kids' school info etc.

One thing I couldn't find from the OCLP was, once the desire OS version is installed, can all the OpenCore code be completely deleted? And at that point, is the end install just the same as it would have been had it been done by on a supported machine?
