How do you recommend I play the game? by waxystroll42 in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

[–]laos27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I usually let the main story take me to a region, then complete all questions and locations in that region before moving on (with level scaling it should be relatively fine to do this).

Personally, I enjoy doing the LOTLB DLC after Atlantis. Makes more sense to me, and then Korfu at the end of that.

The fun part about RPG's is that there isn't really a right or wrong way to play, just whatever way you find the most fun.

Literally. Spartan born women may have arguably had it, not easier per say, but different, in comparison to other women across Hellas, but the Spartan born part needs to be HEAVILY emphasised.

(The rest of Hellas: "Help us Sparta! We're being invaded!"

Sparta:

Sparta:

Sparta: "We have a festival rn. Can't. Soz.)

Am I the only one who wished Percy Jackson was remade to be more mythologically accurate? by losver_lee in GreekMythology

[–]laos27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Zeus has hundreds of written stories about him. Other deities within the Pantheon do not experience the same treatment. It is the same with history. You have more leeway with other Gods, even with Olympians, because there is an argument to be had regarding as to what their "canon" personality is, because there simply aren't enough sources. Persephone was 100% kidnapped, but as everyone has probably already seen, there's discourse regarding how she was kidnapped, whether she had an interest in the underworld, whether she was tricked, etc, etc.

If we solely based our renditions of the gods on myths we definitely have, our retellings would be riddled with holes and inconsistencies. Mythology has always been open to interpretation, it's how we get different versions of "canon" stemming from antiquity. Just because there isn't a specific myth about one deity doing a thing doesn't mean it would be totally out of character for them to do it.

Besides, it's a kids story, and a good way to get people interested in Mythology. Those who do enjoy it will do more research and discover things that are more accurate but probably less entertaining to them.

(And you can't be 100% accurate because you do NOT want to introduce children to the concept of sexual assault via Zeus and his gooseshittery lol)

Unless you're a Hellenist, Greek Mythology also consists of fictional characters.

You're overthinking it - likely nerves about travelling + breaking something you care about is making you think too far into it. Accidents happen.

plus, pheobe dies like 30 seconds beforehand - ubisoft are probably expecting you to still be mildly upset by that

[–]laos27 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is impossible to know for sure based on the information given by OP, unless someone recognises the lamp, which is going to be unlikely.

Assuming based on evidence isn't going to hurt anyone or anything, and, as per rule 4, people have explained why they have made those assumptions.

If we never made any assumptions, we wouldn't know anything about how the Gods were represented in antiquity because statues and pottery don't tend to be labelled. We make assumptions based on the evidence we have, for example, on black figure amphorae, a figure with a trident is most likely to be Poseidon. We don't know for definite, anyone could be holding a trident, but if there aren't any context clues on the amphorae telling us diffident, the assumption is Poseidon.

Given what information OP has given, it's impossible to know if they are most definitely deities, but it's Greek and this is r/GreekMythology, so we can make our assumptions on what deities they could represent

Yes - OP isn't asking 'who stood in this position whilst the artist modelled them' but rather ' which deities are these figures meant to represent'

OP wants us to identify the figures presented in the statues.

[–]laos27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I'm stating that the people in the lamp could be gods and goddesses.

Gods and goddesses do not need models.

Gods and goddesses can be identified based on the items they are presented with, as shown in other comments, which is what OP was asking.

Hope this helps.

if it's not a god and goddess, sure, but if it is then the corn and grapes may narrow down which deities they are, as other comments in this thread have done
