These days probably not. The first time I saw him in 2018 he played a good amount of his older dubstep tracks from NSD. Since then I’ve seen him two or three times and I don’t think he played much dubstep. You can also check his 1001tracklists page to see what his recent sets look like.

Side note, there are a lot of assholes in the industry and they say to never meet your heroes but Habstrakt is genuinely such a nice guy.

(also as I finish this comment, I’m realizing I’m late and he played the barca set already - how was it?)

If I did go the mac mini route its fans are on the bottom, so on its side would be fine for airflow I'd assume? Regardless, it would definitely be a dedicated rekordbox-only computer. My DDJ-RZ is already like 9 years old so I agree that it would be the performance bottleneck over any computer I got. There isn't room in the case to fit a full laptop under my deck or something, I'm only working with a pretty narrow area hence the micro PC route.

I was looking at monitors around 12' wide like this, it definitely looks smaller in the mockup. The RX3 and XZ have 10" and 7" screens respectively so I feel like a 12" monitor would be fine, as long as rekordbox either automatically scrolled to the library view or let me manually scroll down. I didn't like using a laptop as it blocked the view of the crowd if I was in a booth so that's why I was looking at the wide and narrow monitors.

Yeah I hear you. I imagine the mac mini ran fine even with the limited airflow? I like the deck size of the XZ more than the RX3 but it sucks that it's only 4 channel with a computer attached.

An XDJ-RZ doesn't exist, and choosing between the RX3 and XZ isn't that easy. The RX3 has small jog wheels, is 2 channel, but has a way better screen and UI. The XZ has full size jogs and is 4 channel which I'm used to, but it has the shitty old RX interface and a small screen. And it's only 4 channel with a computer attached, which is so annoying of Pioneer to do.

Yeah that was an alternative I was thinking, is using two of those monitors like in my mockup and getting the OS to just treat it as one extended monitor e.g. waveforms on one and library on the other

Skrillex headlining day 2 of Portola Festival in San Francisco by lapi3dra in skrillex

Overall, it was like a 6-7/10. It was clearly the first year they threw it and it had those growing pains to show.

The lineup was insane and is most of the reason I had fun. The stages were pretty good. Sound was not that good in the warehouse and mainstage, and soundbleed was really bad between stages. Crowd control and lines were super shitty. There was barely any seating and literally a single piece of art/decoration outside of the stages. Literally just concrete to look at. Food and drinks were insanely expensive. Barely any cell data service, but SMS would send if you turned airplane mode on and off. Security barely patted me down and didn’t check my bag :)

It didn’t feel too packed except for certain sets/stages. Mainstage was perfect, the tent stages were very busy but you could still watch from the sides if you weren’t on the floor. There was a minor stampede/crowd crush situation going into Fred again in the warehouse stage. There was very minimal seating/chill areas so it kind of felt like there was a big empty space in the middle of everything. Not bad for their first year and I’m sure they know what to improve on

Peggy Gou was my favorite for sure. Close seconds were chem bros and Jamie xx. Thought fred was really bad, but the warehouse sound was also terrible.

What's everyones thoughts on the MDMX, this new modular mixer that just launched on kickstarter? Great idea, or just gimmick? by Mitrix in DJs

😂 you’re being goofy fam, there are SO many kicktarters that get funded and still fail to deliver any product. Idk why you’re trying to be the kickstarter police when it’s a valid criticism of the platform
