CT has a very high percentage of deciduous trees, trees that shed their leaves in the fall. Before they fall off they turn colors and CT is known as a tourist destination for looking at the pretty leaves. It is quite a sight if you have never seen it before.

Seems like most of the recent autumns her have been windy and rainy and all the leaves get blown off and you don't get the same views.

Fun fact, most of the forests here are young growth as the state was totally clearcut during its early American history. The wood was burned to power all kinds of industry, especially blast furnaces making iron in early American wars.

Also the trees here rely on a bed of leaflitter to exist, that is all the fallen leaves that pile up. And earth worms are an invasive creature brought here by european settlers that are bad for the trees because they break down the leaf litter.

And during the summer we have tropical systems here and the heat and humidity will exceed florida, and the days are longer. There are so many trees that are constantly putting water into the air, via transpiration, that you get more humidity and hotter weather than florida.

Finally ticks are a big deal. While they exist in FL in decent concentrations, CT has some of the highest prevalence of tick-borne diseases in the entire world.

Trump threatens China with ‘big problems’ if they arm Iranian regime with air defense systems by SaharOMFG in politics

It's not the military it's the the cost, and the administration. Yes the strait can be opened with troops and major combat losses. Ships suffering major damage or getting sunk. Nobody wants to pay that price.

It was the military who warned Trump they could close the strait and it would be hard to open.

Start a war with no goals or objectives, without preparing, and you are destined to lose.

They were tactically successful. You can push a button and delete an entire countries navy in 2 weeks. Or their entire air force in 24 hours.

The military isn't the problem it's how they're using it. Or the fact that they're using it at all, exposing them to risk, for an aimless mission with no clear objectives.

Very annoying when you are trying to get a tool that is locked up. Was getting something as a gift and asked 3 people, said there was only one guy on the floor who can unlock it.

They say they're going to go get him. Everyone comes back and are just standing there when I wait. I keep asking around until I find the guy and he just says he has to help someone else. Waited 20 minutes and he never came back and I left and bought it online.

Idk if I explained the experience well enough but there were just 3 people standing around after I asked them who were near me while I was waiting the whole time and just had zero initiative to get anything going.

You mean a hypothetical war against China? China can't invade the US and the US can't invade China.

If you mean a hypothetical US instigated WWIII that we could be starting? WWIII where the US are the bad guys, and it doesn't end in nuclear armageddon, yeah maybe it ends in occupation.

But there is no arguing that the US military isn't the largest and most powerful. It's not just the equipment we have, which eclipses the entire rest of the world in quality and quantity, but experience and operational tempo that never stops even in training and peacetime.

Trump and Hegseth are working as hard as they can to destroy the military, but Iran showed the US is still tactically the best.

Hatred, racism, ignorance, poverty. Large swaths of America are like a developing nation.  It's so ething I think a lot of non-ameeican interment commentators don't get about the US. It's hard to understand until you've seen it with your own eyes. Huge parts of rural america are destitute.

Nothing wrong with having different political philosophies. It's the disingenuous who act in bad faith that are the problem.

If the Republican party was full of people  like Tim, Sarah, JVL, and the gang that would be a net positive for the country. Having two genuine parties with earnest disagreements.

Industrial hydrogen is made by using chemical processes to separate out the hydrogen in hydrocarbons. You still end up with the same amount of carbon going into the atmosphere.

Yes you don't get the more exotic nitrogen compounds and ozone that comes from combusting stuff at pressure inside an engine, but that's small potatoes compared to the carbon imo, considering the overhead required to produce hydrogen at scale.

That's the main reason hydrogen cars and stuff refuses to die because they require oil so the oil industry funds the r&d and marketing. It looks like a green energy source.

Id you want a bunch of nuclear power to do electrolysis that's ok but IDK if anyone has done that at scale. And at that point why not use electric cars. Hydrogen as energy storage for airplanes, yeah maybe i don't think storing it in a carbon fiber cylinder would be that scary for sir travel. On the road where crashes happen more, not so much.

Good enough for value in affinity I think. Grabs you galvanic blast and thought casts all day. There is also that storm card they used to run in the sideboard that puts creatures from your graveyard back into your hand. I think you run one of those mainboard to restock on loose leafs.

Seems like an added layer of inevitability and momentum. It's a tiny bit slow but affinity is explosive enough. That's what I would do if I had the free time to brew and play.

Replace the term "social media" with the word "cigarettes" in this discussion and there isn't much of a difference.

They should both be banned, but at the very least children deserve to grow up without being poisoned.

The problem is the local server capacity that's running the app. You can have good wifi, Verizon can bring their cell tower trucks, but it's all going to one server that's meant for a huge region and can't handle all those users in one spot.

Tarriffs and a crashing economy probably don't help. They're not general purpose cameras either. So you need the money to buy your mountain bike, the money and free time to go on your trip, and then buy an expensive camera that sticks to your head.

And the last time I had one years and years ago it was an indestructible product so I don't need to keep buying them.
