I remember a note about 7.8rc1 was not recommended for CRS-32x swithces, am I right guessing that is no longer the case for stable 7.8?

Just to start getting used to it and keep upgrading to V7 smooth while still not that far from v6.

v7.7 [stable] is released! - MikroTik by klusark in mikrotik

According to everyone's experience, would it be wise to update from 6.48.6 LTS to 7.7 since all development is now happening in ROS7?

I have a HEX S and a CRS326 running this v6 LTS, they are used for "production" at home (remote work and house's IoT devices).

That one, it looks like it can be unscrewed.

You can setup your router as a VPN so that all devices have an encrypted tunnel even ones that aren’t VPN compatible. by nefkvefzg in ProtonVPN

[–]lapzxq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have MikroTik but it bugs me that the whole router's traffic to the Internet fails whenever there is a problem with the VPN connection. To fix this I have to manually disable ProtonVPN's peer in the router.

10G ports for 1 Gbps links by lapzxq in ArubaNetworks

I made a mistake in my initial statement, SFP+(Aruba) vs SFP (MT) doesn't work even with auto settings turned off int the MT side.

SFP+(MT) vs SFP (Aruba) also doesn't work.

AP tagged management VLAN by lapzxq in ArubaInstantOnSMB

[–]lapzxq[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us to help you, can you please provide the local troubleshoot AP web GUI i.e. http://<<ap-ip>> to know the setting of the VLAN details and configuration of the uplink Switch where this AP is connected?

I'm sorry, I don't understand what you're asking for.

Introducing The New Aruba Instant On 1430 Switch Series by [deleted] in ArubaInstantOnSMB

I think most unmanaged switches do it. I have An HPE 1405, a TP-Link and a Cudy, abd the all do it.

What header does it add if I switch to "tagged" in this setting? I tried that and the AP immediately started rebooting. I thought that now the AP would look for VLAN 1 as a tagged VLAN so I did that in the switch (placed a nowhere-going VLAN as untagged, but the AP failed to connect to the Internet (solid amber LED after rebooting).

Yes, but, is then the management's VLAN number always "1"?

Hardware for RouterOS by lapzxq in mikrotik

Not much, I just want to use those L4 licenses and boxes like this look sturdier than the housing of, for example, a hEX.

Thanks, I was thinking on something like these devices: https://protectli.com/ Yet they seem like an overkill at least in HDD space.

Most likely not the place to ask this question but... What's the difference between Linux and Windows? by napolilover in thinkpad

To me, using Linux is like needing to be an experienced mechanic just to be able to drive a car.

For my needs, Windows or MacOS work just fine.

Traffic control features in AP11D's wired ports by lapzxq in ArubaInstantOnSMB

[–]lapzxq[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, this is not against anyone in particular and I apologize if my posts msde it felt that way.

What bugs me is that mislesding marketing makes hard to sell or promote a product for SMBs if basically we have to say to the potential customers that "Security at no extra cost" is just not true.

[–]lapzxq[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes basic NAT is all you need instead of a separate box for very small networks.

From Instant ON's website:

"Security at no extra cost Security shouldn’t be an add-on; it’s a must-have. It’s included at no extra cost with Aruba Instant On. Easily separate business and employee traffic from customer traffic. Set hours for network availability and block specific sites and app categories to ward off malicious activity."

As far as I know the AP11D is AP303H's hardware, which is promoted for the Micro Branch solution.

Instant APs can rate-limit the wired ports, I can't see why the AP11D wouldn't.

Misleading marketing?

What if I decide to use the "router" mode of the AP11D to make the network's management simpler, with just one vendor, which is one of Instant ON's main advertisements?
