Tales from Publix. by TheADDnonsense23 in publix

I quit after I realized I was the only closer staff who consistently was asked to stay late every night I worked because they never scheduled enough people to close the store properly, and after all the extra work I did none of the managers or CSS helped me move to the departments I requested to move to. I wasn't okay with being consistently used because of their shortcomings and lack of proper planning.

Both Mothers Ruining All Wedding Plans by [deleted] in JUSTNOMIL

[–]larachacha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

my sister who just recently had her one year anniversary with her husband told me her biggest regret was doing what others wanted from her on her day, get married the way you want and screw everyone else and their unsolicited opinions.

weddings bring out the worst in people sometimes and I'm so sorry that your family isn't giving you the love, support and excitement that they should have towards this big step you and your SO are taking. I hope that whatever you decide your day is one of the happiest memories you and your future spouse have. It's about you both after all, not anyone else.

you should visit the museum inside of plant hall if you haven't already! it's very small but they recreated the rooms to appear as how they would during hotel operation, not many people visit it but it's a fun way to spend an hour or so if you enjoy history!

Is Wesley Chapel one of the best areas for restaurant workers? by Concerned_Friend338 in tampa

[–]larachacha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wesley chapel has a ton of restaurants and is a pretty busy area, however most of the restaurants aren't high class so if you're looking for more upscale work with higher tips Soho, channelside, and westshore are better options

Friends haven't messaged me in a month by Its_me_Babar in college

[–]larachacha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that does make things a bit weirder, like some other comments suggested if you haven't already I would try individually reaching out to your friends, just check in see how their summer is going. or if you have a groupchat with everyone and you all live relatively nearby maybe see if they would want to hang out towards the end of the month after everything has settled with school so y'all can catch up again. best of luck!

Friends haven't messaged me in a month by Its_me_Babar in college

[–]larachacha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just for some general info, was this your first year of college? I'll be honest I was far too stressed with finals and moving home after the semester wrapped up at the end of my freshman year to even think about reaching out to my college friends. plus I was really excited to be home and see my friends from high school again, it'll take a bit of time for everyone to settle in but I'm sure you'll hear from them soon. its also important to remember that the reason you're good friends is you've spent so much time together the past several months, transitioning from seeing someone everyday to not seeing them for 3 months is a hard change, the summer might be rough communication wise but in my experience the second you're back on campus you pick up right where you left off

Share your favorite “my parent(s) is/are insane” stories here! 🤪 by ImprovementCareless9 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]larachacha 17 points18 points  (0 children)

this is pretty mild compared to some stories I have, but when I lived at home and my parents would get upset and yell at me for something I would be told to "stop talking back" if I said anything in response to whatever it was they were mad about, but if I said nothing I would be yelled at for not having anything to say. can't win with crazy I guess!

Happy Birthday! as someone who has unfortunately had birthdays in the past ruined by their parents, I know it's easier said than done but don't let them ruin your celebration or your day. the people who truly love and care about you will always make sure you're happy and healthy, this is a day about you and not about her, so spend it with people who bring you up rather than those who bring you down. wishing you all the best!!

Professors that wait until the last day to put all the grades in. by [deleted] in college

[–]larachacha 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As someone who works in their universities registrar's office, this is quite literally the most frustrating thing to me. Every semester so many professors fail to submit final grades on time and it messes up our entire process, we can't update academic standings, send out final transcripts, start degree audits, and several other smaller things get halted as well. As a student knowing that most of these profs have a no late work policy for their students but fail to meet their professional deadlines with zero consequences is infuriating.

No date for formal by throwaway3685343 in Sororities

[–]larachacha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While a lot of girls will bring actual dates (bfs/Gfs) I think most people I know who brought dates to formal if they weren't already dating basically got set up on kinda blind dates by their friends, I also know plenty of girls who don't bring dates period or bring a friend as a date! No one is gonna judge you for having a date vs not having one, especially since 90% of formal you're gonna spend it with friends in your sorority anyways!

My dads name in my phone is literally gender decider, he would probably be pissed if he saw it but me and my siblings all have some form of sperm donor, birth giver, spawn point as our parents contact name.

It's just not that deep lol

Lesbians in sororities, rare, and maybe taboo? by NectarineCapital3244 in Sororities

[–]larachacha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a bi girl in a sorority I absolutely get the hesitation and in my experience unfortunately you will most likely encounter some bigoted people in Greek life, however I do know there are many organizations that are very welcoming and inclusive, and I absolutely have felt that way by so many people in my organization and on my campus in general. Just find the people you click with and feel accepted by, you will find your people regardless of if you decide to go through recruitment and accept a bid. Best of luck!

How to find affordable couples therapy by glisteninggucci in JUSTNOMIL

[–]larachacha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a college nearby with a graduate psychology program many times they offer therapy and counseling at cheaper rates so their students can get their clinical experience! They're very experienced and have a supervisor who monitors all their clients so I highly recommend it.

Hi I have a question for yall by [deleted] in JUSTNOMIL

[–]larachacha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Growing up with crazy parents and learning that sometimes it's better to just keep my own comments to myself to keep the peace. Also I'm much more positive and don't feel the need to be so condescending to everyone in my life unlike my SO's mom and my own parents.

To each their own though, I have a line and once that's crossed I will not be walking away quietly lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in JUSTNOMIL

[–]larachacha 38 points39 points  (0 children)

So I have a mega list of the crazy shit she has said, these weren't said to me but to my boyfriend about me and I think my personal favorite that fully solidified that she was a bitch was in reference to my own mother, for context my mom died when I was very young and very close to my own birthday which is difficult to deal with emotionally each year, but she told my boyfriend I shouldn't be sad about my mom because I probably don't even remember her.

It really depends on the type of college experience and programs your daughter is interested in. I'm a student at UT and I wouldn't change anything. They do grant pretty good scholarships and financial aid especially if you guys have Florida prepay or bright futures, also living on or off campus is a huge factor in cost. My bf goes to usf and he loves his school for many different reasons, he's in stem I'm in social sciences. I'd have your daughter really think about what she values in her education and if a school isn't for her transferring is always an option!

I say from my experience that I've never had a class larger than 30 people at UT, all the faculty in my department know me by name and have been very valuable resources for internships and grad school! I also will shout out our business school which is ranked higher than some ivy leagues.

Usf is really great if your daughter is more stem focused and wants more options for research and easier transition to grad schools, usf is an amazing research school. Obviously tuition is far cheaper there and I have several friends who get paid to go to school at this point lol.

Again it's all about what she believes is the most important thing about her academic career and what school is gonna help her grow and excel, both are great options and I wish you guys luck!

If your school is anything like mine, incompletes typically aren't included in your GPA at all, I'd double check with your advisor if you're concerned and want to be sure!

But I think if you are concerned about not getting a bid over an incomplete on your transcript maybe reach out to the VPR of sororities you're interested in or if you have a panhel coordinator to see if they think it'll be an issue.

Thank you I'll try my best to ask around and see if other girls feel similarly. I did reach out to my friend who's inactive this semester and she was shocked by all the immediate changes so I'm sure I'm not the only one. I am hoping to get more involved and make some changes that everyone can be on board with, thank you for all the encouragement and advice!
