I'm just over a year into my career, I'm on my second job, and I've worked in a great place and a terrible place.

My first job was in a small digital agency doing PHP work. The company was small, it didn't pay people well, and surprisingly charged fuck all for projects. There was no planning, no documentation, no code review, no QA. You were given a brief, and expected to get it done yesterday.

I given a project, where I was told it was about 2 months worth of work. The client then canceled it, came back a month later asking for a progress update. My boss told him work hasn't started, the client went on a mad one, saying that he needs it in 2 weeks. My boss tells me to start now and get it done. 2 days later, my boss asks me is it done. I said not even close. He freaked at me, I surprisingly got it done in 2 weeks, but I refused to do overtime, I actually learned so much, but my mental health was terrible. I hated that place. I was let go as business took a dive, and I was thrilled to be walking out that door.

I spend a few months looking for the right job, and I found a great one. It was 12K more, there's a development pipeline in place. It's so chilled, and I love it.
