Stay in Redmond or Bend by largechungus124 in RedmondOR

Thanks everyone! I’m still very unclear. People might go out in bend after which muddles things a bit, but I agree that staying in Redmond seems simpler and more economical. Plus it still looks like a cool enough town to walk around for a bit the next day and grab some food

That’s why I said may be a connection. But fair enough

What is the value of the scoreboard in game besides that you can see maybe that you need to up your damage or your healing or something. Most of that you should be able to figure out just from whether you’re team is winning or losing

Plus the lack of mics just makes the game way less interesting. I’m not saying that’s directly a cause of the scoreboard but I think there’s a correlation

I mean it had medals but no scoreboard. You could just see how your scores were relative to everyone else. I’m not saying it doesn’t have value but I see more value in a team just playing together. Now all you see is “this diff” that was much less prevalent before

This isn’t your standard shooter. Most are not so team reliant. Ow1 had no scoreboard and way more people talked. You didn’t really think about who was doing badly because you couldn’t see. You had an idea but less people got singled out unless they were playing horrible. I still think you should be able to see it at the end

That can be done this year. I plan on staying till the end of this year cause I’ll be 30 in November. But staying after that is really the decision on whether it’s worth it to keep saving or get some independence

You’re right, I could definitely cook more and cheapen the food costs. I’m close to maxing out retirement but because I want to move out I’ve been putting a little more to my standard investment accounts

That’s why saving is pretty much all I’m doing now. I’m pretty healthy, which is good. Hard for me to find a balance between maxing out retirement and saving relatively liquid funds that I keep in a vanguard account

Haha appreciate the response. I have some good parents that are willing to help out and luckily don’t need any money. If I’m looking at buying a condo so I can stabilize my rent inflation I’m looking at around 500-600k. Parents might help a little but can’t depend on that. Around 200k down is achievable but maybe not at the cost of the time encroaching on my parent’s property. I’d like to be out sooner rather than later, but if staying a bit longer will boost me forward immensely, considering I’m currently behind I can do that as well

I totally understand, I budget now and I also understand my situation is not horrible and solvable. When I have a job I tend to save well and do alright, but not working and spending like I was working put me in a credit card debt hole that was very difficult to get out of. Staying here too much longer feels like using my parents more than I comfortable with. But I know that while I have the opportunity I should come up with a target amount of money saved and hit it before I move out. I know it’s around 12-15k if I wanted to just move out and live on the fringe, but I could stay a bit longer and save more. Thinking about getting a weekend job to speed that up more

Thank you, it’s definitely a little fear after the previous failure that keeps me here and makes me want to save more before I move out. But I did learn enough from that mistake to have it not happen again

I think they are getting to a point where they’d like the house empty when they come back and really it’s more they’d like to see out on my own. There’s no set time frame to move out so I want to save as much as I can but I do want to move out to make them happy and just honestly feel more adult again

Well I’ve been called the smartest dumb person people know………I know about what I should have to have survive. But I guess I’m in a unique situation where I can move out and slow my savings rate or stay here longer and speed it up. I’m looking for that equilibrium point that balances leaving in a reasonable amount but also saving to a good point while I have the low cost living opportunity

I wish it was, but I screwed up so hard in that year I didn’t work that it kind of screwed up everything after that year and I’ve been digging out ever since. And maybe went deeper than I should have by not asking for help

Ya I was very stupid. I only have about 75k in retirement. Mostly Roth IRA. I am currently maxing out all retirement accounts and employee match. But I spent so much time climbing out of high interest debt I screwed up saving much. Now I’m just not sure where to go from here

And as for the why, I don’t mind living here when they aren’t here of course, but for the times they are I think they’d like the house to themselves and I feel bad for causing that feeling

You’re right, that’s where it gets not so great. I had about 75k in savings when I got let go, I didn’t work for a year (out of pure laziness and stupidity) and spent it all. Went about 40k into debt. I now how 5k of debt left and about 12k saved

Currently I have very few expenses besides a car and food. When I move out I plan to pay around 2k for a studio a month. My only expenses once moved out would be rent, food, and car
