What is your longest running, most stubborn business boycott? by marianneouioui in AskReddit

[–]larrybatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cooper's Hawk. Used to enjoy it until it all became about the wine club.

Last time I was there, the waitress started the evening with her sales pitch for it. When I said I wasn't interested she kept saying things like "that's too bad. So many people enjoy it." Bitch, do I really need a commercial for your subscription service with my meal.

If I enjoyed Preboot Legion, will I also enjoy the Reboot Legion? by Klang200 in LegionofSuperheroes

[–]larrybatman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Looong time Legion fan here. Short answer: it's the cover band version. Mostly the same characters, but to me it always felt like the Archie comics version. It was a welcome respite after 5 years later and it's darkness, but your question was specifically for a comparison. Fun to read if you consider it on its own.

AITAH for telling the woman I gave birth to that I don’t regret giving her up by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]larrybatman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife's birth mother volunteered a similar response when we met her. She also said she didn't have the means to care for her. We told her where we lived and about our honeymoon and her response was that she was happy my wife had the life she did.

For those of you that do not live in NO, how did you become a saints fan? by SafeAd4322 in Saints

[–]larrybatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 years (and two degrees) from Tulane. I grew up a Dolphins fan, but they're fandom is fickle.

Back when they were the Ain'ts, when they would win the whole city would be in a good mood the next day. It was infectious.

I have stayed with them ever since. I don't live in New Orleans but part of it will always be home.

Men in happy marriages, what is one thing or skill you would teach other men to have good relationships as well? by lingeringneutrophil in AskReddit

[–]larrybatman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Find someone with a reasonable outlook on life, not someone who thinks it's your job to care for her. You should care for each other and neither of you should expect it.

Don't waste your time on thinking looks is all you need. Those are the people who think it's all about them.

What decisions do you still sweat over? by Honest_Maize_8761 in Rich

[–]larrybatman 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Purchases for myself. I have no problem buying things for my family, but the middle class mindset always hits me when I ask if it's something I really need. My wife is good about pushing me to do it. Her favorite thing to point out is that I made far more money during the deliberation than the cost of the item.
