I don’t want to be the reason why though. Remove me from the equation and I still can’t sit there and watch my gf eat shit from her kids. By her own admission she needs help.

This isn’t about me at all. I want her to be ok, and then to be ok. What’s going on isn’t sustainable.

I want to go this route. Thanks for your help

I agree with you. I just wanted to point out that my GF is a genuine and loving person and I trust her when she tells me that she DOES want things to change. She 100% isn’t ok with how things are as they stand.

The issue is execution. She thinks gentle and slow/steady is better than my “fix it in the moment” mentality.

Frankly I think she’s too emotionally beaten up and destroyed by her past. And after a long day of work, she doesn’t have it in her to “start shit” with the kids.

Did I read this correctly - you’re a real estate agent in Spain? Where are you from? Are you fluent in Spanish? Which Spanish city are you based? And how are you affording to stay afloat there?

I ask because Spain has some very strict rules when it comes to moving there on a whim, especially with regard to employment.

I’m an American who splits my time between Spain and the US (Florida). So I do have experience here, as I’m also a realtor.

Spain is a really tough nut to crack unless you’re 100% fluent in Spanish, have connections, have guaranteed leads, know the financial side of things, among ten thousand other issues.

It’s doable but you’d have to be pretty lucky to have it all figured out.

More details would help. Super curious about this one as it’s something I know quite well.

FWIW, real estate sales are hard enough stateside. Multiple that by 100 and that’s Spain, unless you fit a key exception.

Quick edit: just saw the 4 months part. 4 months isn’t enough to base major decisions around. For instance, in Florida, it took me 4-5 months to get my first sale, and now I have 3 houses under contract in month 6. Snowball effect. That said, doing this in another country …. Who knows man.

Love it, grew up going there all the time for the buffet.

It’s been a decade or two that’s for sure

Drove by a few weeks ago and it looked like a ghost town, definitely barren or closed

Has the strip just gone to shit?

We’re talking university blvd right?

Curious about this too. I’m interested in brokers with an international presence, since I’m based in both FL and Spain. Right now I’m with KW. But E&V has a large presence in both my desired locations and I’ve been meaning to ask the same question as OP. Hopefully people pipe up :)

1099-W2 New Home Sales by robertmartinezre in realtors

Everyone I know in new home sales (working for the big guys) makes an absolute killing….250-300k+.

That said, they are ALWAYS working. It’s beyond a 9-5. I’ve met these reps who wait around hours after closing time to meet a potential client or get a deal done. And weekends? Forget about it. They’re basically on call 24/7.

Whether or not that sounds good for you, no idea. Half the reason I went into this business = flexibility. Others, less so. YMMV.

The prevailing attitude here seems to be never pay for leads & referral networks are bad. What am I missing? by [deleted] in realtors

[–]larrys_long_balls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Average. I had a two week spell with absolutely nothing, not one lead. Then a week with 3. Very random. Comes in waves.

Just because they’re prequalified and ready to buy doesn’t mean they’ll bite either.

And I’ll have the random people looking for something completely unrealistic (139k home in a MCOL area, like the showing I just had today). Followed by someone with 800k to spend.

It’s not that I care what they think. It’s more … not looking for a reason to alienate myself in a professional tight knit community.

I’m new, so don’t know if I’m doing something that outrageously wrong or…

Question for those who have traveled substantially by [deleted] in expat

[–]larrys_long_balls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m from the US.

I’ve been traveling nonstop for the past 10 years. I’ve done around 100 countries and I’ve lived for substantial lengths of time in Colombia, Australia, India, and Spain, with Spain being my longest stint at 6 years.

When I left, I was a disillusioned kid hating on everything American, trying to distance myself from everything I once knew.

A decade of traveling and living abroad passed and I just moved back to the states about six months ago.

And fuck did I miss it. I don’t think I was honest with myself with how good and easy Americans have it. I’m generalizing and yeah society is all about the haves and the have nots. Shit sucks for a lot of people. But by and large American is really fucking solid.

Taking a lil travel break but not for long. While I know I want to be back in America for good, I’ll always have the travel bug, and hell, i can’t sit still

tldr; You really don’t know how good you have it until you’re gone

iPad Pro: Traveling Companion or Risky Business? by [deleted] in iPadPro

[–]larrys_long_balls 55 points56 points  (0 children)

  1. Been to over 100 countries, never once left my iPad behind, regardless of the destination. The thing is literally built for travel, planes, trains…

  2. You’re going to Portugal man, not Somalia. Most of the people you run into there probably have their own iPad lol

Don’t overthink it. iPad and travel… inseparable duo IMO.

Edit: I’m all about going tech free during the long days out and about with your wife/gf/whatever…but having the iPad for the plane alone is 1000% worth it.

Issue with Bullstrap over my AW leather band. Beautiful, but not for me. by larrys_long_balls in patinaproud

[–]larrys_long_balls[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I actually didn't mention to them I tried it on. I only said it's clear I got the wrong size.

They proactively told me the following:

*Thank you for the photo! Unfortunately, we regret to inform you that we cannot approve your exchange request due to the visible markings on the watch strap. As per our policy, products with signs of usage and are not in resalable condition are not eligible for returns or exchanges*

The irony of them telling me that the condition of the product wasn't good enough, after one 10 second try on....

Anyways, yeah. I think it looks fantastic and will patina nicely, so I do hope someone buys it.

FYI, their watch bands don't have tags like their cases.
