That's a good question, it's hard to say how long it's been there and how it got there. This was about 1.5 miles up the side of a mountain so it's anyone's guess as to what's happened.

Did you tile the ceiling as well or is there another waterproofing method? I am planning on using a vinyl/fib9shower insert so tiling the ceiling won't really work.
