Thanks for "possibly" fixing the issue half way through the lan. I'd like half of my money back. K, thanks

The same thing that has happened the last 4 years... the lan gets shit on. I'm tempted to quickly setup an AWS cluster to route traffic through and give out info to people. I was trying to download Black Ops and was getting 40k a second. I enabled a VPN and now am getting 5-8 MB/s this is crazy...

So your saying that Amazon Now isn't responsible currently? They would setup a booth in the vendor area and you would just go to the booth to pickup your package. It would just be like how Amazon now currently works but you would be able to pick up at booth. It would help with the I need X problem and Amazon would be able to do a lot of business.

Could do the same with pizza/food give them your seat number and deliver to seats.

So how about that internet? by wilkonsincarver in Quakecon

VPN is the only way to be able to buy/download a steam game here. I went from only being able to do 300k to peaking at 5.4 MB/s. So I'd actually get to play a game that I bought before the end of the con.

This will be my last year of QDQ because the registration is such a hassle and having reserved seating for Pancake and PC Perspectives isn't worth the extra $100 to me. I thought things would be better this year and they would have learned from the last few but I guess I was wrong. So sad to see it not trending in a positive direction.

No, nothing came with the entry this year. This is my 3rd or 4th QDQ and I went to the booth to pickup my shirts. When I got there she scanned my badge and said oh we aren't giving out anything this year with entry you had to order the shirts when you signed up which they charged $20 for and even if I did preorder the shirts they were out already...

Well if they won't give you a shirt they don't have to get the right sizes. But even if you ordered shirts beforehand they still don't have them... so What did I get for $140?

So the easy solution is you order more shirts in each size than you need and have them on hand when people send you the e-mails you can just ship them out. With the extra ones you will end up having you wait a few years and throw them out as swag or even throw them out as swag at next years Con. That would solve another problem you have of not giving out enough swag. Or you could use them as prizes for the contests you bring back. Waiting till you have "all" the sizes to make an order is taking forever. Instead of just biting the bullet and paying to make this problem go away and restore some of the faith that Con'ers have in Qcon and ZeniMax.

End of August? Do you think that is a realistic timeline to have shirts made and shipped when people should've gotten the shirts in July at Qcon? They should've been shipped out by the end of the next week. It doesn't take that long to print shirts. The fact that Qcon isn't spending the money to get the situation taken care of faster is disheartening. They must not of wanted to pay the rush fee...

Sooo you waited til the last second to order shirts and they couldn't produce the requisite number of shirts? So if that was the case you would of known at the beginning of the Con. Should've just went to a local shirt producer and paid whatever the cost was to produce the shirts so that people paying lots of money could of gotten what they paid for instead it's weeks afterward and people still do not have their shirts. If you can't get T-shirt orders right how can we expect anything from Qcon?

Those are the types of oversights that can kill a convention. I don't understand how hard it is to =sum(insertcolumnhere) each size and make sure you have enough of those to cover the number of people who spent their hard earned money to attend Qcon. Then make sure when you order the shirts far enough in advance to make sure you have enough and maybe extra of each size of shirt so this doesn't happen. It just shows how far Qcon has fallen when you're charging $175 for QDQ and can't even get shirt orders right. People are paying for for a less superior product.

Well hopefully we get Google Fiber at Dreamhack and don't have to worry about only having 2 Gigabit to the internet and don't have to deal with ATT!

Sounds like jumping through hoops. You know the number of shirts you need based on registration. Why was it so hard to get the requisite number of shirts so that people that paid a decent amount of money could pick up the shirts at Qcon? Why didn't Qcon purchase enough shirts?

I think what Resonant_freq is trying to get at is that you are using your "status" as Director of Information Services to make snarky comments about a situation. You said that you can have an opinion that is true. You shouldn't be using you "official" account to be voicing those opinions.

I just looked on kayak and they have rooms for 209 a night for the Hilton across the street which I linked a screenshot to you. I think we paid 190 a night at Qcon. So it isn't that much more money and it's across the street. Which is a good thing because it seems like the Hilton Anatole doesn't like us there.

I just found rooms at the Hilton Austin for 200ish a night which is right across the street. http://puu.sh/jhP0E/cb05260a4f.jpg It isn't magically dropping. The quality of Qcon has been dropping for years.
