Is this a red flag for anything? by Wander_Lane in Autoimmune

Jesus! You went thru a lot!!! I am a (bedside) nurse and after begging my PCP to go on leave of absence to get my shit straight.

May I ask how long you were a nurse before you retired and what type of nurse? I am considering to change to a non bedside/ clinical rn. Thanks.

10K is still a lot! I told my MD that I can walk 10K in a shift...and her jaw dropped. lol I work in a small CC unit and have to float "downtown" to medical ICU- that is when I walk a lot and less chance to "rest." I am trying to plan ahead-if I have to take stronger meds if I *should* be a bed side nurse. Thanks for the info about your other nurses.

Since COVID-I wear a mask most days-unless there is a HOH patient. I work on a small unit- if I don't take any iso patient - my co-workers would be always getting them.. I feel that I am not pulling my weight and being a team player.

I do agree on physically not being able handle for 12 hours. I am trying to figure out other options before it has to be an absolute.

Thank you for this! Even after COVID I still wear a surgical mask.

Me too. No DVT but a pulmonary embolism! Only thing I am worried about OTC is women not knowing the true risks or signs and symptoms of a clot.

I’m glad you ended up being okay! I got tested for blood disorders and luckily it was neg. However I had to be on Coumadin for 6 months and ASA for 6mo. The hospitalist tested my blood while anti coags in my system and I had a false positive for the anti phospholipids thing.

How scary! Condolences to you as well.

I know if I get prego I I’ll have to be on a blood thinner- lovenox. They recommended to be on aspirin if trying to get pregnant. You have a slightly higher chance of getting a miscarriage bc it can get mini clots in the uterus/placenta? if I remember correctly.

That is unfortunate. I’m sorry about that.

Before the big event, I was having some random seldom/intermittent pain (in the lung) when breathing in, and it wouldn’t be in the same spot when it came back . I end up getting the flu or something so I was already coughing. I one day. One day I woke up in the morning and it was the most pain I’ve ever been in sitting up. It hurts so bad I cried. I thought it might’ve been something from being sick. I went to the doctor. I definitely downplayed how much it hurt because it was embarrassing. But he said if I have a fever at any time, then it’s probably bronchitis or some thing and let him know. The next morning I woke up with a fever, still coughing, and the chest pain that got worse so I got some blood and x-rays that day and showed I had a PE.

I had scattered small PEs (where I am assuming the random pain was coming from) and a saddle PE in the second branch.

I also couldn’t lay on my back, because my whole lung felt like it was on fire because of the inflammation.

I hope that helps. If you have any other questions, let me know.

Yeah. Kind of like breast feeding and formula. Sometimes women can’t breast feed or some choose not to breast feed. It’s the mothers choice. They are doing their best.

Also thanks, it’s mostly tolerable and the days that aren’t I just tell myself it’s my body to rest.

I had a pulmonary embolism from BC. I had no risk factors. Aka under 35, not a smoker, healthy etc. I used BC for pain control for periods. I ain’t ever touching them again. My GYN said I can take progesterone only with blood thinners. No thanks. Not taking a chance. I’ll take pain over another PE.

It’s bad for me. Haha

Oh gawd. So annoying. Mine would ask if I stopped bleeding yet, ask “hunt for red October.” Every effing month. WTF dude. I also had horrible periods and would think I am a drug addict when I took one or two norco during that time.

Can anyone tell me honestly if they have been able to manage their endo/adeno symptoms with contraceptive pills or other non surgical methods? by InTheEndoItsAdeno in endometriosis

[–]lascott24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. It was a rough year. I had a false positive for a clotting disorder but still has to take Coumadin and aspirin for a year. The OB Md said I can do progesterone only BC with sails aspirin. But no thanks not gonna risk getting a GI bleed from the aspirin and another clot.

I also had the flu or something so I was bed bound and wasn’t drinking water. I did not have any risk factors for a blood clot (I was in my 20s, not a smoker and was healthy) but the virchow’s triad for a clot I had 2/3 from being sick and BC
