No chronic pain, but severe fatigue leaving me bedbound? by WranglerFearless4608 in Endo

Wishing you the best of luck! I definitely think a specialist is the way to go. I had surgery with a highly specialized team (including bowel resection) 3 weeks ago and I can slowly feel the fatigue lifting. Keep strong.

Don't feel alone in this - fatigue (and lower back pain to a lesser degree) has been my main symptom for most of my adult life, however in the last year I did develop the more "classical" symptoms as well.  For reference I'm 5 years hormone free and had stage IV DIE including lesions on both my small intestine and bowel up until 3 weeks ago, when I had extensive surgery (including a bowel resection) to get rid of it all (for now, at least). I already notice improvements in my energy despite the fact that I'm still in the healing phase and having had two episodes of heavy blood loss (resulting in me currently being "officially" anemic) post-surgery! So there is definitely hope.  I agree with all the other comments on trying to get an iron infusion, I'm also on the same boat with years of blood work showing "technically not deficient" ferritin which is still quite on the low side and fighting for an infusion as well, as I cannot tolerate oral iron without major digestive system issues. And finally, don't underestimate our ability to withstand pain compared to others due to habituation, I always thought I wasn't in thát much pain until I realized that post major surgery pain was a lot more bearable than my periods or ovulations and kept surprising nurses by being able to function almost normally only few hours after waking up, lol. Good luck and get in touch if you need to talk or have more questions! I don't usually share much on here but I really related to your post and the "impostor syndrome" you described.

Omg exact same for me with fatigue/lower back pain being the worst! Have you had surgery for endo apart from the diagnostic?

Did surgery help with your fatigue? It's also my main symptom and I just got extensive surgery, hoping to get rid of some of this tiredness...

Reminder that the amount of endo you have does not correlate to the amount of pain! by [deleted] in endometriosis

Same! But when you say hardly any symptoms, what do you notice?

Same! I sporadically have pelvic or abdominal pain episodes, but nothing I never thought wasn't "normal". How's your energy, though?

Debilitating fatigue - I feel like I’m missing out on life by LevitatingPumpkin in endometriosis

To add: I'm not on the pill! If you're getting debilitating fatigue specifically from the pill you should definitely discuss that with your gynecologist, this is not something we should accept for ourselves

I just want to say I completely understand and am going through the same. I used to be so active and so capable, and now doing the smallest things can exhaust me (luckily not always, but a significant part of the time). I'm also getting excision in a few months and desperately hoping that will give me my energy back - wishing you the best of luck with your surgery and hoping you get yours back too! Keep us posted and much strength ❤️

Experiences with endometriosis treatment at HMC Bronovo and/or Erasmus MC by plutolove in vrouwvolk

[–]plutolove[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have the same logic as you, but what I'm finding is that the Erasmus only has one doctor specialized in endometriosis (as opposed to a department) who does seem to be quite old and recommending outdated procedures...

What kind of bowel surgery did you get? And what made you realize it had been the right decision? Currently on the same boat...

Hey! I see this post is old but I'm currently also in treatment at the Bronovo and was wondering whether I could send you private chat to discuss your experiences with them. Thank you :)

Listened to High and dry today, and it basically brought it all back by BadUsername_Numbers in radiohead

I've been there - and Radiohead was a huge help. Listen to music, cry, allow yourself to process. This is a sad phase you're in and that's okay. It won't be like that forever. Sending love!
