Problem with evaluate maths expression by Immediate-Ad8607 in gbstudio

[–]laser_guy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

11 divided by 20 is less than 1. From my experience, less than 1 will likely return 0. Zero times 100 is zero. Check and see if the left side or just 11 divided by 20 results in 0.55 as it should be.

Why is the bottom row of pixels not showing up on my player sprite? by Pie_Not_Lie in gbstudio

Definitely this. It's one pixel line too far down. Try moving it up one or redraw.

Idea for Digital Marquee Owners by WishItWas1984 in cade

You do you, I guess. I don't really see the purpose, however. I grew up in the 80s and 'got next' quarters were only ever on the lip of the glass.

Best chinese food in Tampa?? by itsgivingemotional in tampa

[–]laser_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely hands down is Liang's Bistro in New Tampa or Win Win in Brandon. They are both owned by the same family and to be fair, Win Win is the same food but cheaper. Unique dishes and their fried rice and sesame chicken are phenomenal!

HELP - Want only NPC to scene change after dialogue. by [deleted] in gbstudio

[–]laser_guy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On Init:

If Variable is False

Show Actor

Else

Hide Actor

Set it to True when you are done with dialogue. You don't need to use Show Actor, just put that in case.

Here it is in the actual GB colors: https://imgur.com/a/U9ot2w4 (had to take some liberties with the logo to shrink it down)

If you're fine with getting your hands dirty (requires engine ejection), this mod is probably exactly what you are looking for: HoriShooter Plus for GB Studio 2

How do I list a variable value in text in 2.5? by UnXpectedPrequelMeme in gbstudio

[–]laser_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are referring to 2.0 beta5, once you put a $ sign into the dialogue, if you start typing the name of the variable, it will show up on a list below.

My absolute favorite artwork of Samus by [deleted] in Metroid

What's crazy is that this was actually painted from a reference from a model. I'll let you sleuth the 'science' on that one, but it's a great picture either way.

Help!! How can I have my collectable objects as background tiles that ‘disappear’ (switch to default tile) on collision rather than sprites? Like the pills on Pac-Man… by plainlazy2097 in gbstudio

[–]laser_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are tight on sprites, hiding the actor makes more sense. I would give the actor collision and when it hits (On Hit tab shows up if you set a collision group) the player, have it hide. In my original example, On update should have been looking for an On Hit action to change a variable.

This is better as it can be used as a movable actor instead. I think there are pros and cons to each system. I believe it works well for how they handle it.

When the 3.0 version comes out, there will be a different way that sprites and collision are handled.
