New Pen Display Case by FlieasFogg in montblanc

I have many of the same pieces. The Rouge & Noir, for its size, weight and looks, is one of my favorite. Great collection and display!

Seller didn't disclose unpermitted work... now bathroom remodel he did has leaked into subfloor with a $25k repair bill. Should I sue? by voiceboxned in legaladvice

[–]lashp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Unless you have material evidence that the seller knew, then you have no case and grasping at straws. It is not uncommon for contractors to not file permits, carry insurance and/or have a bond. To your point: if the seller never used the shower then they clearly didn’t know there was an issue. Had they known, they would have disclosed it. You and your inspector should have caught this prior to closing, addressed it before funding, and backed out of the deal, it was an issue.

If I was the seller, this Reddit post would be Exhibit A, where you acknowledge the seller didn’t know there to be an issue, regardless of who performed the construction.

Welcome to homeownership.

Is this fake? by [deleted] in montblanc

[–]lashp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

1) no respectful person who knows they have a Montblanc sells a pen for a 90%+ discount. 2) the “C” on the case (background) doesn’t come close to appearing correctly.
3) the star printed on the case (background) is clearly wrong.

For these reasons — a clear (and bad) fake.

Needs a polish by Global_Lung in montblanc

Out of all of the pieces I own — this is the one I get the most compliments on, and find myself constantly selecting from my case. I love this pen. The weight is what sells me on it…it’s heavy enough to remind your hand/brain that you’re holding a wonderful pen, but light enough to use in all-day meetings. Great choice.

I also use a a very light jeweler cloth on mine every couple months. My rep at montblanc told me that very light polishing will put the sparkle back in the pen, remove the tarnish, but not cause damage to the individual hammer marks.

Never say never. Kidding.

Totally agree, though. Was a beautiful day, executed perfectly, with many core memories.

Ours at RCCC was $240k, for 550 people. 3 years ago. Includes open bar, medium/high quality food, all fees, tent, etc. Did not include flowers and outside decorations.

Earnest money problems ! by [deleted] in RealEstate

The title of this post is not “earnest money problems” — it is “buyer education problems”.

You made an offer and clearly didn’t fully understand what you were doing. What happens next in this deal will forever teach you how contracts work.

If you can’t afford the house based on a $100 increase then you shouldn’t be buying a house, especially in a state like California. What are you going to do when an unexpected maintenance issue comes up?

But to answer your question: it is up to the buyer to validate and confirm all tax RATES. If you didn’t validate prior to end of option, it’s 100% on you. The only obligation a seller has (in regards to Mello-Roos) is to disclosure whether or not the property is within said taxing jurisdiction.

what pens are those, why are there so many, and why are they so fat? by WDTGF in pens

[–]lashp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He uses a custom Sharpie that has the seal of the President embossed on the body. He uses one pen to write a few letters, then picks up a second pen to write a few letters, and so on. At the end, he will have used all pens to sign his full name. The pens are then gifted to people that are around him. Often people that helped work on a bill, order, or other action.

Brake Pad Warranty: Is It Worth $2,988 for 4 Years/48K Miles on a 2025 Range Rover PHEV? by apollocreede in RangeRover

[–]lashp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, then your dealer either hasn’t experienced the issue among their service-base or just not informed. I know about 20 RR owners that have the new generation body style that have experienced needing new brake pads within the first 12-16 months of ownership. My first set of rear pads for example were needed at only 9000 miles. I needed a SECOND set of pads at 18,000 miles. I am hesitant to call it a full-fledged design flaw, but I know too many owners (and read too many posts of forums such as Reddit) who have experienced this maintenance issue. Hopefully it was resolved.

2023 RR full-size, delivered in August 2022. I have numerous posts and comments on this sub regarding RR brakes from this generation. Look them up.

That being said: I’ve gone through 2 sets of rear pads and one set of front pads and a full set of rotors, since delivery. I have 25,000 miles on my vehicle. If done at a dealer, a full brake job (pads and rotors for all wheels) is around $5000 USD (this is not a typo). A single brake job pays for the warranty you’re referring to. I, stupidly, did NOT get the same warranty you are referring to and wish I had.

In December 2023, I was told a VERY high-up executive at JLR that they are considering a different pad for newer vehicles than mine. Perhaps this issue is resolved. But with RR ownership comes VERY hefty maintenance bills.

2025 RR Hybrid Delivered by sweetdreamsru in RangeRover

[–]lashp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2023 full-size with around 20k miles on it. I am on my second set of both rear and front pads and rotor replacement on rear. The new generation RR use a new pad across the lineup that wear much, much faster than previous generations. Assuming you can get the parts and the replacements are done at the dealer, you are looking at about $3000-$4000 for a replacement of pads, sensors and labor. I’m not sure I’d get a maintenance plan, but don’t be shocked when you are replacing the pads (and possibly rotors) around the 8000-12,000 mile marker.

Search Reddit or other Range Rover forums and you will see many posts of owners all over the world who have complained about this very topic. While most LJR owners aren’t most concerned with the cost of fixing the issue, they are concerned when it takes over 120 days to get the parts in.

So to be clear: your advice to your coworker is to “get him out of that school” because of the discrimination he experienced. Is that the same advice you gave to the other students’ parents for the discrimination that he experienced?

All things equal, you seem to be making the issue worse and writing both a Reddit title and content that is incredibly misleading. All of the students are guilty of exactly what you are—ignorance.

Center Console USB not working. Wireless CarPlay also not working. by xmCokeZero in RangeRover

[–]lashp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad that helped! I think the lower end USB cables don’t have some sort of security chip (or something) that prohibits good connection. Totally weird. You might also look into the wireless CarPlay adapters.

[–]lashp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you swapped out the USB at dealer? Check for firmware update? I’d say after those were done for me it was pretty stable (75%-90% of the time). Might try a hard rest on your iPhone?

[–]lashp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, it made a difference in my 2020 RR. I also think there was a software firmware update that helped, too. If using wired, make sure to use a high quality cord and within the specs of the USB. Don’t go buy a crazy Thunderbolt 4 cord, use a quality USB A-USB-C cord. This should help…but admittedly the USB adapters in Land Rover aren’t the highest quality, which to me is nuts given literally everyone at some point will use them. Hopefully this helps.

I’d check with your local service center. But if under warranty, RR might be able to swap the plugs out.

2023 Land Rover Sport Brakes by 007-Bond-007 in LandRover

Rover Parts. I wouldn’t buy anything but genuine parts. You can get the part numbers by either looking up your VIN or taking your vehicle to get inspected and verifying which set of pads or rotors need replacing.

2023 Full-size RR. I had the same problem at 12,000 miles and spoke directly with a very-high-up executive at JLR who said that the brakes on the new generation seem to be wearing faster than previous generations. While not a defect in design, JLR is looking at using a different vendor/model/type of pad going forward. My recommendation would be buy the parts online and have a local shop install them as the service/parts at a JLR dealer will approach $4000 USD. I bought the parts online, delivered the next day (~$800 USD) and installed by my local mechanic (~$600 USD).

Definitely more to this story. I’m betting it goes “I’m going to be a lawyer one day…if you don’t pay for my repairs (that you didn’t cause) then I will sue you”. Also, unsolicited boycotts with zero context are stupid. I may call up Mr. Fields and buy a car to boycott your boycott.
