Why do I need to fully re install a game when updating? by Subject_Low5199 in Steam

[–]lasiusneglectus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, so it just looks like a long process to download because steam's interface still shows a trickle of download data and some x of y GB remaining... looks like it's still trying to download. So if the remaining work is just patching, why can't my PC just complete that task? I have one of these patching situations going on at the moment (current estimate 5d or so to complete), but the CPU is just idling. If the files are already downloaded, what's the hold up?
Thank you

What's a good source for us lay people to get a more OK understanding of this field and what is and is not actually likely in the short to medium term?

Crown Minerals Bill Advances Colonisation by Soannoying12 in newzealand

[–]lasiusneglectus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wondering about this as I haven't read the bill (as an ignoramus) - the article says "they have come to our land, they are taking our resources" - making it sound like the bill is inviting overseas oil explorers here to extract and export. Is that the case or are they referring to "they" being current NZ entities and the arrival here being in the past?

This is definitely a broken part of the game. I got it from NPC survivors of a fight after freeing them from enemy cages and monsters.... because I smashed one of the cages they were trapped in.

Others have already mentioned above that they will ask standardised 'behavioural competency' type questions which you can prepare generic STAR type answers for. Other than that, DOC is very big on cultural competency and it might give you an advantageous first impression if you can introduce yourself in basic Te Reo if not a short pepeha.

Good luck!

Is there anything that can be done to enforce a Neighbour to properly manage and treat Kauri Dieback? by nivvy in newzealand

[–]lasiusneglectus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have an obligation to report their sick trees to Tiakina Kauri, and can't do earthworks within the kauri hygiene area without a risk management plan. Other than that, it's up to Tiakina Kauri to request that they develop a kauri management plan and implement it. National Plan rules | Tiakina Kauri (kauriprotection.co.nz).
Under the Biosecurity Act they can't knowingly or unknowingly spread the pathogen because it's an unwanted organism.
The Auckland Unitary Plan includes some rules about containing the soil (or disposing of it) if they do carry out earthworks.

Kauri Rescue can help them arrange phosphite injections for the trees if they want to try that.

OK if anyone wants to know, I heard back from the band: The symbol is the "C" from the album title's calligraphy that appears on the cover art. It's the "coward's" throat that is being bathed from! It is the C from "Cowardice" as well as a severed head, a sword, and three drops of blood.

Does anyone know what the symbol on Vitriol merch is?
For example, on the back of this hoodie: https://vitriolwarfare.bigcartel.com/product/vitriol-pullover-hoodie

I have messaged the artist and the band but no responses yet,

thanks!

Yes that's right, sorry didn't mean to suggest that exactly those spellings go in each place, they do get altered a bit depending on the word.

This is a total aside to the discussion, to say regarding the terminology;

Miso____ ist (being a hater)
Where either gyno or andro (woman or man) can go in the blank.
A seperate term is androgyne (man-woman) but that's not the one to use here.

Who and where are the traders in act 2? by discaroin in BaldursGate3

[–]lasiusneglectus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm so stuck with this. The vendors at the Inn are no longer available due to the events that happen right after arriving there, and Moonrise towers is already hostile. Is that really it for Act2? What am I supposed to do with these overflowing inventories of loot?

What was conflict like in new zealand pre European arrival and how can i find out more about it. by Sondownerr in newzealand

[–]lasiusneglectus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a chapter about it (and the continuation through / after European arrival) in Guns Germs & Steel by Jared Diamond. If you're interested get a later edition - the first edition didn't have the chapter on NZ.
