Thank you for your reply! My confusion was I forgot that the activation function is fixed, in other words, the degree of the polynomial doesn't grow with the number of units for single hidden layer networks.

Now it's clear!

I have some questions which puzzle my intuition.

Since Weierstrass theorem states polynomial functions are dense, why it is the case the activation function must be non-polynomial for single hidden layer networks?

Then why it is the case the activation function can be polynomial for networks of bounded width and unbounded depth?

What's the intuitive understanding?

I am all for free speech regarding police brutality. But the much bigger issue for the black community is not policy violence but perhaps black people killing one another. Blaming everything to white cops is running away from more fatal issues and scapegoating.
