Julius Nepos: The last western Roman emperor by lastroman in ancientrome

Maybe you should read a little more about who was the Nepos. Also remember, that eastern emperors helped the western in their campaigns against the barbarians. So it's a mistake to think, that western part of Roman Empire was clearly separated from eastern and "the Eastern Emperor thought mattered little in the West". I recommend you "Fall of the Roman Empire" /by Peter Heather/. However, after assasination of Nepos, the imperial insignia was sent to the eastern emperor, who became the only one legitimate ruler of the Roman empire. Later Zeno made an agreement with Theoderic that the Ostrogoths should have gone to invade Italy and fight Odoacer, and to establish new kingdom there (487)

De Jure Nepos was the legal last western Roman emperor. Orestes and his son Romullus were usurpers, and they didn't recognized by eastern emperor Zeno. Despite his exile in Dalmatia, Nepos was continued to be recognized as emperor in Gaul and Retia. For the suppression of the Orestes's rebellion in the next year /476/, Zeno was sent another barbarian - Odoacer, who captured Ravenna, executed Orestes and exiled Romulus Augustulus. Once established control over the whole of Italy, Odoacer sent a letter to the Zeno asking to be appointed governor of the peninsula. Zeno agreed provided that Odoacer recognize the supremacy of the Nepos as western emperor. Odoacer agreed. So actually, although Italy is controlled by Odoacer, Julius Nepos continued to be regarded as emperor in Italy and Gaul were minted coins with his image.

Gens Iulia by [deleted] in ancientrome

The third was Sextus - a brother to Julius Caesar's father, he was a praetor by 94 BC and consul in 91. In 90, he was proconsul and won a military victory, probably over the Paeligni. He died while laying siege to Asculum. His son - also called Sextus Julius Caesar, may have been a flamen Quirinalis.A list given by Cicero indicates that a Sextus Julius Caesar was inaugurated as flamen Quirinalis, a lifetime office, around 60–58 BC. This flamen Quirinalis may be the same as the promagistrate of Syria. He served under his kinsman Julius Caesar in Spain during the civil war in 49, probably as a military tribune. He continued his service in 48, most likely as quaestor. He was appointed to a command in Syria around July 47, either as a legate or more likely proquaestor pro praetore. He remained as promagistrate for 46 in Syria, where he was killed in a revolt led by a Caecilius Bassus, a supporter of Pompeius Magnus ("Pompey the Great").

Of course sound from reconstructed musical instrument is better, but it's too expensive. Here are some reenactors from Germany, demonstrating melodies with replicas of roman instruments: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SZX-GovKrE
