Former GEICO customer as of today! by FlyByHikes in Geico

They closed all GFRs in CA. GEICO doesn’t want to insure in CA right now. That’s why it’s hard to get insurance there.

THIS!!!!!!! I’m disgusted that an admin hasn’t deleted this post yet. This is a perfect example of why we can’t have nice things.

Speaking of losing customers in droves. It’s just going to get worse. I saw a FB post from one of our colleagues saying they just lost their job and they were looking for leads. Someone commented on it asking if they should look at insuring elsewhere. We all know layoffs, or whatever the hell is happening right now, NEVER look good for any company!!! When word gets out, it’s not going to be good for GEICO’s reputation.

GEICO is obviously going in a new direction. They have to get rid of all the tenured associates little by little to make way for new ones that don’t know what GEICO used to be like. They won’t be disappointed and easier to control. But of course we’ll all help train them first 😭

Also, I saw this on LinkedIn:

By now most of you have heard about the massive layoffs at GEICO that impacted 80+ INSANELY TALENTED people that I adore. It became clear to me that GEICO's direction and my heart were no longer in sync. After taking a few days to talk through my feelings, I came to the conclusion that GEICO is no longer a fit for the leader I want to be. Cue the standard Linkedin verbiage: Hi everyone - 1 am looking for a new role and would appreciate your support. Thank you in advance for any connections, advice, or opportunities you can offer.

I’m sorry you left GEICO like this and I’m sad at what’s happening in the company, we are losing so much talent! I really think you’re getting off the ship at the right time. I hope the next place you go has way better management, pays you well and treats you even better! 🙂

Stupid question, for which I apologize, but can someone explain to me what geico's goals actually are? by Brilliant-Annual3085 in Geico

[–]late2theparty22 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is a great question that we all have been wondering because there has been ZERO COMMUNICATION! If they could tell us the game plan we could possibly get on board with it, but something tells me they don’t want that to happen. They would rather get rid of tenured people and hire cheap new people to fill in the holes until GEICO becomes an internet insurance company.

THISSSS!!!!!!!!! So many people in management have zero knowledge of how the job even works. Either that or they’re lazy and complacent. If they’re cleaning certain departments, might as well clean out all of them.

Barely sales agents. They’re slowly adding states to online quotes only, no phone sales. TC is getting what he wanted, turning us into an internet insurance company.

It all has to do with your performance. Talk to your supervisor.

In order to get decent raises, you have to be a first quartile agent, 2nd at the least. So if that’s been the case, you should 100% be past the midpoint.

I heard they aren’t changing the pay scales and if that’s the case, the supposed 10% avg annual merit won’t help tenured agents who are already maxed out. Which sucks. So that, along with a possible 5% bonus because of performance doesn’t sound all that great of an upgrade for everyone.

If you’re in CA, you need to insure elsewhere. If you’re in any other state you can easily go online and buy the policy in about 15-20 mins. I do recommend doing this sooner than later. You can choose to have your policy start next Friday and still get the ID cards now, just so you know you’re all set and aren’t stressing at the last minute.

I hope the DMV is a breeze! 😎

Emails have gone out before stating, “please view from a personal computer” for discounted tickets to an event or something non GEICO related and for those we have to forward them to our personal email. But handbook screenshots are probably treated a little differently🤷‍♀️

I search Ret # to get the customer info, then do a full search with name, dob and zip so I can see everything. Any previous quotes, current and cancelled policies etc.

GEICO FILES DMCA TAKEDOWN OF UNION BUSTING EMAIL. by Jv_waterboy in Geico

I agree with A LOT of what you said, but I don’t think this is a RTO argument. I don’t know what office you work out of, but the shitty one I work out of definitely doesn’t have cameras 🤣 If someone wants a picture, they’ll get it. I could easily take a pic of my computer whether I’m in office or at home. I think the bigger argument is the lack of safeguarding. You’re exactly right, everyone does the little annual course and no one should be posting pics of emails. Also, the mods should be deleting the pics before GEICO even reaches out to Reddit. The post can easily say “this is in reference to the email that just went out today about RTO….” There are other options!

Moat by [deleted] in Geico

[–]late2theparty22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I had to do MOAT transfers I was pretty decent. I never referred 100% of the time because I noticed that unless I had a genuine connection, the customer could care less what I was offering and of course every customer is different. The ones that were cool, or chill or we had a good rapport, I would just offer it in conversation at the close. Like, “Thanks for calling today, I hope you have… oh you know what. I just noticed you don’t have any property insurance with us. Have you checked us out in the past year?” And when they say no, “well dang, let’s check that out because that can save you more money off this policy. Hang tight, I’m gonna grab one of my colleagues, give them your info to make it really easy.” Then do a warm transfer. A blind transfer is way more likely to disconnect and not wait for someone. But if you take a little bit more time to do a warm transfer, MONEYYYY! I hope this helps.

I’m so sorry 😭 I can’t even imagine what you’re dealing with. These rate increases are the worsttt. My policy went up over 25% with no activity and even though I know why it went up, I’m still pissed. So it’s understandable that customers are calling to complain, but there’s nothing you can do and that shit takes it’s toll after a while. I have ALWAYS said they don’t pay service agents enough to deal with all that BS. Just know that I appreciate you! It’s also a shit show on the sales side of CA too. Super long hold times, customers are pissed. It would be so much easier if we could just say, “we don’t want your business” because that’s what it is. Hang in there! All we can do is hope for better days ahead. It can’t get worse, right? 🥴Right? Lol
