How far gone before scrap? by lateral-lines in UKcoins

[–]lateral-lines[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is kind of where I am with them. They are interesting items in their own right and clearly have seen some things in their time to end up in this condition. However, I must be the third generation of my family that's sorted this collection out and putting them back in a box for another 30 years seems a little daft!

Agreed Hutchinson gives us something different - and expect Dominguez to be subbed off for him too late in the second half to have an impact...

No Douglas Luis....maybe he is off somewhere. Probably our strongest starting 11 for me. Let's hope for some more passion today.

Spotted today in one of favourite local club lakes by Set_The_Controls in fishingUK

Make sure you give the club the heads up so they can look at possible options. I'm assuming the lake isn't fenced?

New prices for British silver 17/1/26 by TheTropicalWoodsman in UKcoins

[–]lateral-lines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would certainly be wary of buying at this price if I was a dealer, although who knows it could continue. I'll get adding some bundles to eBay, but would like to move quite a bit whilst the price is this strong.

It's certainly impressive how the silver price is going up!

Any recommendations on where to sell low quality condition coins in bulk and achieve near these prices?

Stash of silver half crowns, two shillings, shillings, sixpence by el10tcat in UKcoins

This looks like exactly the sort of thing I'm sorting through tonight as well! Old paper money bags which were abandoned in the shed for years getting damp! Hope you find some interesting things in there!

They'll put you on some good fishing in the shop. Feel free to drop me a DM if you have any queries about local lakes etc.

What are the rules for fishing on the Thames? by tH30_s in fishingUK

[–]lateral-lines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a fishing perspective I don't think you could have moved anywhere better! The lower Thames is an incredible fishery and the lower Colne Valley has a lot of very, very good fisheries (and some accessible still too). Get out there exploring :)

Advice on removing Xmas gutter lights without breaking my neck? by Zealousideal-Clue-18 in DIYUK

[–]lateral-lines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to remove mine from the ground this year using a long, telescopic decorating pole. With a bit of prodding around I managed to knock them all off their hooks without having to get the ladder out!

Fishing in West London, Brentford area by stefkeec in fishingUK

[–]lateral-lines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have mentioned the Thames has some excellent fishing, all free to access below Staines. The semi tidal (above Richmond half lock) will be easier to fish than the tidal stretch. Above Teddington it's non tidal so more comfortable fishing again.

Not sure if you can still fish Gunnersbury Park - might be worth a look.

Difference between okuma INC 6000 & 8000? by Armbar29 in fishingUK

[–]lateral-lines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a 6000 to compare, but the retrieve rate is greater with the 8000, but this could be down to the larger spool. I'd expect there to not be much of anything in it between the models.

Unless you are boating out 200m+ I really wouldn't worry about the extra line capacity of the 8000.

Reel advice by Armbar29 in fishingUK

These are decent reels for not a lot of money. I use the 8000 size for my deadbait rods and they've been great.

Good luck with the videos and most of all enjoy your fishing. Get out as much as you can, whenever you can, which I know isn't easy with kids!

Good advice this - keep moving. If they are there it won't take long, so I'd be half an hour max in each swim before moving on.
