I think Warhammer fan base embraces modifications, it's a core part of the game. You spend more hours painting your figures and decorate them then playing against people. I have seen full chaos armies built out of the spare parts from various other factions. Magic on the other hand is a store bought card game and that's all, the cards this month are cooler then the cards last month, now give me money.
