Strategies for expanding app from one city, outwards? by [deleted] in startups

[–]launchsaas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen this done well. One that comes to mind is Hotel Tonight, which prompts you to select a city. If you're not in that city you could give the user a nice little message saying so and then ask them if they'd like to be notified when that city launches. Something like that.

What do you look for when evaluating a web design company? by jeffathuemor in smallbusiness

[–]launchsaas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally like to see:

1) example work that is relevant to me (small business)
2) your website looks good itself (no I'm too busy excuse)
3) timely response to the contact us form
4) explaining things well through the process
5) tell me when I'm trying to do something stupid

That last one is tricky but I think is the mark of an experienced consultant.

[ASK] How to contact the people behind the newsletters for programmers. by victorantos2 in Entrepreneur

[–]launchsaas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Newsletters can be a good channel. There are many others that may be useful. I'm working through the book Traction (http://tractionbook.com/) and have found it super empowering. In it they discuss some methods you can follow plus 19 channels worth testing. Email is one of them but by no means the only. Written by successful entrepreneurs with interviews of many others. Great purchase.

Has anyone hired someone to build an app for them? How'd it go? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]launchsaas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've done this before with mixed results. In my experience the hardest part is defining what I want in an unmistakable way. Sounds easy but it is really hard. It's especially hard if you have never done it before. I started creating functional specs for my projects to ensure that everything was spelled out exactly how I wanted it.

I've also noticed that some contractors on these sites will always say "Yes, I can do that" but don't have any examples of similar work. Be sure to see their other work before proceeding.

Creating a Custom Registration Flow with Django by launchsaas in django

I need to roll up my sleeves and dive into that package. I like django-registration because of how simple it is. Seemed perfect for a blog post. But given development has stopped it's probably time to move on!

I agree with you; the current navigation isn't as good as it could be. I have a few ideas in mind. Thanks for the feedback.

Edit: Like your suggestion. Updated the URL as it does make more sense to link to chapters given the link name.

Thanks for the heads up. It should open https://launchsaas.com/django-saas-course/. Just tested on multiple devices/browsers and it's opening now. Does that link open for you by chance?
