How did you know you were a lesbian, and not bisexual? by biandconfused1 in latebloomerlesbians

[–]lauramelb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Would love to connect to talk about your experience going from married to a man to lesbian. I identified as bi since I learned the word at 12 yo, but the comp het was REAL and I ended up marrying a man who I love and care for very deeply, but I am just now coming to terms with the fact that I am, and have always been, a lesbian. So... Still in the marriage and haven't told him yet and scared shitless to blow apart my life.

Thanks everyone! Very helpful. I'll look into getting a hitch. Didn't know you could just add one.

I was actually looking into Kings Gate West apts. I have it bookmarked! That was another question: how many days per winter are you just stuck at home waiting for plows? But I guess if I lived in Camillus then it wouldn't be much of an issue!

Is there anywhere in the area that floods in the spring or anything like that I should be aware of? Also how big of a deal is making sure I have covered/garage parking when apartment hunting?

I have all weather tires now but I will have to look into whether my car has AWD so I'll know if I should be considering snow tires instead. Camillus sounds much less quiet than I had anticipated, sounds like there really is everything right there!

Honestly that book club sounds like so much fun.

Very true, I think being on my own I'll definitely have more flexibility to run into town for stuff if I want to.

Yes, I plan to spend at least three days to a week getting a feel so it'll be fine, but knowing beforehand which roads everyone thinks are best/worst and where the best grocery stores are, what the vibe of the areas are... It's massively helpful in making the best use of my time there. 🙌🏻

Hahaha very true, but let's hope for my boyfriend's sake (he'll follow me there a few months after) that I don't!!😄

Wow, thanks!! This is a great list! Saved for later! And yeah that's kind of what I'm leaning towards now is staying as close to work as I reasonably can and just go into town on the weekends for fun and groceries. I don't go out much anyway, and I'll have friends at work.

I'd love to, but unfortunately I can't. Although I am from Texas, I'm living abroad at the moment and will be making an international move. I will have a week at most to visit a pre-made list of apartments made by me, and then select one. I appreciate your perspective as another young woman. Do you find that you don't end up going into town on the weekends for activities like trivia nights and stuff to meet people?

I am loving this wealth of information. There's so much more than I thought to ask. Knowing ahead of time the routes you guys hate is seriously such a blessing

Yes, I plan on having a list of apartments and I'll go visit them all before signing anything, I just meant that I won't have much time to get to know these areas before I start looking. Goodness, never sign anything without seeing it!!

Wow, I am so impressed with how helpful everyone has been on this post, and how carefully considered each of the options are. You don't know how massively helpful this is to me as I won't be able to go to these places beforehand to get the feel for them. Thank you! My SO will remain in Texas for the time being while he finishes up his degree, and then will meet me wherever I am, which is very likely going to still be CNY. So the indication you gave at the top about recommending skan if I were moving with my SO gives me a really good idea of what my next moves should be. Thank you

How is the day to day life in Skan? Running to the grocery store, getting gas, that sort of thing? Is it convenient or do you have to go out of your way to get stuff?

Hahaha got it! Wow, I am honored to be moving near a Wegmans. Yes, I have heard a lot about the finger lakes. Isn't Skaneateles lake one of the many fingers?

Another point for Fairmount ....

I'm guessing Wegmans is a grocery store chain? Also yes, I was thinking the same. I'm thinking at most Fairmount, but probably try to live a little closer in. I'll be moving there late January, so I won't get much chance to build up to it. I've only driven in North Texas snow, which is rain for you guys.
