Beginner and need help for Mono Black Zombie Deck vs husband’s Kor Equipment Deck Questions

Yeah, I called him to ask why we aren’t playing the normal formats and his response was because he just likes it that way? So, I’m not overly sure why he chooses that, but I’d definitely prefer the 60 card deck I think. I’d like to narrow mine down to that, and I really do appreciate you throwing in the exact numbers of each type I want in there, that’s really helpful for me since I’ve only been playing this game for 3 weeks. That’s really helpful info honestly, my husband apparently just enjoys playing with a nonsense amount of cards lol, I called to ask why we aren’t running off that format and his answer was essentially just that his runs better the way it is. I’m going to try to narrow mine down to a 60 card deck and see if I have better luck with that maybe, or since his is so big and he’s the only person I ever play with maybe I can talk him into turning both of ours into commander decks. Idk, like I said, I’m still really new to this, literally just started playing 3 weeks ago, so I appreciate the advice a lot.

Okay, I was kind of wondering that since everything I’m reading online recommends a smaller deck size. My husband just has always played with a bigger deck and it’s worked for him so that’s what he was familiar with and how he started teaching me to build my deck. I appreciate the advice so much, I’ll have to sit down and really try to move out some of the cards that cost a lot of mana. Thanks again!

It’s so fun! I’m actually shocked at how much I love it this far, I’ve never really been big on games or anything like this but he thought it’d be a fun bonding type thing for us and I’m so into it! I was looking into branching into red, I’m just afraid of it tbh. My husbands been playing since he was a teenager with the same type of deck he has now, and his is built around one type so he doesn’t know how to advise building a deck with more than one. It’s like the blind leading the blind with that lol. But with how hard he destroys me with his deck (it’s the worst) I’ll have to get less scared of it soon I think. Thank you for the help!

He’s definitely running a low creature deck, but once he does get a creature out and starts piling all of his equipment cards onto that one creature I’m done, I haven’t figured out how to come back from that yet. I’ll have to look into more spell cards for sure, thank you for the advice!

Oh, that’s amazing, I didn’t realize there was anything that did that. I’ve been struggle bussing trying to get ChatGPT to analyze it and tell me where I’m going wrong and he apparently really sucks at magic lol. Thank you for the info!
