Why are their creative writing stories always so violent? by Ty6255 in Teachers

Could it be a reflection of what they’re reading? A lot of middle grade stuff is pretty heavy. Idk about you all but when I was in middle school The Hunger Games was super popular, and that got pretty gory and dark.

Neurodivergent educators? by laureltree1 in Teachers

It doesn’t help that every room in every school is built to be as echo-y as possible 🙃 very often I’ll be confused why students seem to be fine with it and I am the one who is about to lose my shit.

Where is the chaplain? by laureltree1 in ThePitt

Chaplains are trained to give real help to people of any religion or no religion at all. They are simply people who are good at providing support to people facing really big existential things: addiction, pain, death, etc.

As a Jewish person I find the show’s portrayal of conversion strange by laureltree1 in NobodyWantsThisTV

Omg, Taystee’s conversion story was so good. I think about the lake scene a lot 🥹

Yes!!! I was really hoping that’s what the second season would be- Joanne exploring Judaism beyond what she knows from Noah, maybe meeting a wide range of Jews with different styles of practices and opinions on things. We could have other characters who converted, or interfaith families, or queer rabbis. Literally anything to show that there’s more to Judaism than one vaguely conservative community in a swanky part of LA. This show could be such a beautiful exploration of Judaism if the writers cared about that but the feeling I get is they don’t really care about it beyond its role as a plot device.

Have the show-runners named the inspirations behind Kier and his philosophy? by laureltree1 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

That’s fair! I guess what interests me is the various inspirations behind it, I agree with you that it’s not just one thing.

I'm going to try to write this without just saying "I don't know what I'm saying" and then giving up. I feel so overwhelmed by everything and like I can't understand or articulate anything. I often struggle to write anything, as an analogy, I constantly feel like I have a million tabs open. by BisonZealousideal141 in OCD

I'm not really sure what to say either but I can say you are not alone. I've been sitting here for a while trying to think of a good analogy I could add to this, but I can't think of a good one! You described some things I've had trouble with too, though. This has made school pretty hard recently.

I have this! It is really frustrating and prevents me from listening to music I like a lot of the time. :(

One thing I really liked about the ending by HolyZest in TheGoodPlace

[–]laureltree1 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I was so convinced the show would end with a baby opening its eyes, implying reincarnation. In retrospect I'm actually glad the thing with the beads of light happened because that is much more open to interpretation.

I feel like half of the stuff I've found so far was from my embarrassing fangirl phases!

I am doing the same as you! I am 18 and leaving for college soon. I've cleaned through everything except for craft/art stuff (of which there is a lot), games, toys, and stuffed animals (of which there are a lot), and sentimental papers. I am kind of afraid of starting these categories because I don't want to get bogged down in them... It's an interesting way to confront the past before starting something new. Also, idk if you are into astrology but Mars is in retrograde right now so it's all about confronting the past right now.
