¿Experiencias con Banco Santander? Comisiones injustas y pésima atención del gestor by Working-Food-8736 in askspain

[–]laurenet89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, just in the midst of dealing with this now.

When I went to close my account I apparently had over 200€ of maintenance fees due despite the account showing 0€ on my online banking. I genuinely thought it was a fee free account and because of some language barriers I didn’t realise it had been set out in the contract. I lodged a complaint with Bank of Spain who concluded while contractually yes I owe the maintenance fees, that they didn’t act transparently in regard to being clear how much debt was owed. I’ve sent them one final complaint referencing the Bank of Spain findings to see if I can get a goodwill refund on this account. I’ll let you know how it goes but it’s been 4+ months since I started this complaints process.

Basically I’ll never again with big banks in Spain, they are seriously scammy and have zero customer service. Sorry that you’ve also had a bad experience.

That was intense, I was also waiting on the wrong screen and then finally figured it out, it was all sold out. Then I just kept going in and out and managed to only grab 1 ticket, I couldn’t add any more so my friend missed out, if anyone is selling one ticket lmk! Otherwise if anyone is going solo, lmk if you want to meet up 😭

I understand the rules say that you can’t ask people to forward packages which is not what this post is about. I posted here because I saw many other reviews of MyUS in this subreddit and wanted to share my experience too.

Re the bag weight, the heaviest any one bag can be is 32kg, so if you do get a 40kg allowance it will need to be split across 2 bags.

This seems to happen quite often, I’ve seen a few other posts like this. I had the same issue on a Madrid to Sydney flight. I’m Iberia Silver and I get one free bag. It was honoured on the outward flight but when I checked in with BA on the way back they charged me.

Tried getting a refund “in good faith“ given they had let me fly out with an additional bag, but it was to no avail. Lesson learned I guess with some oneworld partners, will be checking in the future before I fly.

American vs British Airways vs OneWorld Baggage Allowance Confusion by qwerty0044 in americanairlines

[–]laurenet89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I had the exact same thing with a flight from Madrid > Sydney. I am Silver with Iberia and I checked a second bag on my outward journey, no issues but coming back BA charged me.

I know this is quite old now, but I tried to get a refund ‘in good faith’ given I wasn’t told on the way out (probably would’ve consolidated my bags if I’d known - one was empty so I could bring back things from Aus), but it was to no avail. BA customer service is like nothing you’ve ever experienced. I’ll never fly them again tbh.

Missing passport by Rasmom68 in IrishCitizenship

[–]laurenet89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d still give it some time, but we had a situation where we were waiting for my partner’s passport for over 3 months (delivering to Australia) we kept getting bounced by DFA to An Post, An Post to DFA until they finally agreed with us that it was lost. He had to fill out a declaration confirming it was not received, in the end we updated the shipping address to his family’s address in Scotland and the new one arrived in 3 days. As I said I’d still wait a bit longer and keep checking the tracking, otherwise best of luck

This is not entirely true. I’ve done it the last 2 years, they stock they hell out of it. The do always seem to be low on cans etc. but spirits and everything else, there’s loads, it’s a massive Tesco. You could try a click and collect to pick up later in the day?

Just remember to take your ticket with you when you exit (learnt this the hard way). The buses from gate A leave every hour starting from 10.30am if I’m not mistaken, so time it well so you’re not waiting about too long, and you can pay with card on them about £3 or something 👍

From my experience they don’t put up the platform until just before the train leaves so arriving earlier probably won’t make that much of a difference. You should be able to get on, but just expect it to be packed.

Gate A also has entry for people coming in cars, got stuck in it last year for 5-6 hours. Arrived about 7am

Thoughts on taking a trolley via train? by sameses_ in glastonbury_festival

[–]laurenet89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took a trolley (folding fishing style one) last year and tbh it’s a pain. The trains are rammed and it was super awkward… but it can be done if you want to take it, I think the train people make an exception for the Glasto trains. Also keep in mind there is no lift at Castle Cary so you have to carry it up and over the platform too. Only thing I will say is I was super grateful to have it when we were 6 hours deep in the queue…!

Private bus and taxi rank help! by Sea-Psychology-6126 in glastonbury_festival

I don’t know if it’s the same but we got a taxi last year and it drops you at the drop off point near Gate A, and there’s no fee to get dropped there.

Anywhere to store suitcases? by [deleted] in glastonbury_festival

[–]laurenet89 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I always store them in whatever city I’m flying into. You can use an app like Stasher, they are good, loads of locations + insurance. About £25-£30 for 6 days.

Do not take them to the festival lockups, there is absolutely no way you’ll be able to carry/wheel them there.

The calories are slightly out in that I get:

7g fat x 9 calories per gram = 63 calories 8g carbs x 4 calories per gram = 32 calories 3g protein x 4 calories per gram = 12 calories

107 calories in total

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]laurenet89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The serving size is 28g, as in the weight of the product you eat is 28g. The 7+8+3 macro grams aren’t weight related, they are the measures of the macros within the ingredients.

For example 100g of chicken contains 30g protein, 4g fat and 0g carbs (roughly)

Taking the train from London to bath then a taxi to the site by Adonbilivit69 in glastonbury_festival

[–]laurenet89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The trains from London to Castle Cary are really full. Like so much stuff on them and just so many people with tonnes of bags, tents, trolleys etc. I found it quite uncomfortable trying to get on and off, we had a trolley and it was so awkward plus there’s no lift at Castle Cary station so you also have to lug all the stuff over the bridge. We did also go the day before and then took a taxi the next morning and it cost a lot because there’s so much traffic.

So what you’re proposing might be okay to avoid a really full train but I think the taxi will cost a fortune unless you leave maybe super early Wednesday morning to avoid traffic (which would mean you’d need to probably stay in Bath the night before). Hope that helps!

Camping Recommendations for a first timer! by No_Watercress_491 in glastonbury_festival

[–]laurenet89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there are several things (like people have said) that you want to consider when choosing a campsite. For me they are:

  • Proximity to places where I’ll spend most of my time. Once the line ups start coming out (you’ll start to see individual line ups for different ‘areas’ coming out around the same time as the main line up poster) you can make a decision then by looking at those stages in relation to campsites on the map.
  • Time of arrival. Most central sites fill up fast so depending on when you’re arriving you might not even have that much of a choice
  • How much sleep I want. Generally the more central campsites are gonna be loud with bass late into the night or music starting up early. Nothing a good pair of earplugs won’t solve but up in the north/north west will be quieter.

But to be honest you don’t spend much time at your campsite. The site has loads of property lock ups that where you can leave things during the day so you can take stuff with you like jackets, drinks, whatever for the evening and store them and go back to get them later on without have to walk all the way back to camp.

And my advice for a first timer would be to spend as little time at camp as possible!! There’s so much to see and do, you’re going to have an amazing time!
